This is all at the direction of Moscow… Vlad Puta is paying Maduro to cause problems that will distract the U.S.

While this single issue alone isn’t enough to distract us from Ukraine, a combination of several issues of this size around the world that affect U S. interests might be enough.

I do wonder if the tankies will count a socialist country invading another country for the explicit purpose of stealing its oil as imperialism.

The line that they’re running with is that Guyana is being exploited by the West and since Venezuela has asked very nicely to ignore the ICJ several times they are (going to be) justified in liberating them.

Oh, so they’re intending to return all revenue raise from Guyana’s oil back to Guyana’s people, just out of the kindness of their hearts? That’s awfully nice of them.

It blows my mind that anyone with a brain buys this stuff, especially given that Guyana’s ruling party is literally socialist themselves.

That’s not being leftist, that’s having no arms at all. No communist would support no government because communism is based around a strict system of government, by the people—ironically, a direct democracy. A Demarxracy, if you will, haha.

Maduro is a lying, murderous, corrupt piece of shit. Always has been. Always will be. And when people go on the street to protest, they get shot at by maduros henchman or put in prison and tortured. I do not get how the other countries in south america stay idle while he is moving borders. I hope this guys can be put in front of an international court one day for the atrocities he did during his regime. And this episode with Guyana is just the latest of his crimes. Since his best friend Putin is not sending him oil-tankers anymore, he get quite brave. I hope someone or something will get in his way soon… He is such a piece of shit.

This is the best summary I could come up with:

Venezuelan president Nicolás Maduro has ordered the country’s state-owned companies to “immediately” begin to explore and exploit the oil, gas and mines in Guyana’s Essequibo region, a territory larger than Greece and rich in oil and minerals that Venezuela claims as its own.

Maduro said he would “immediately” proceed “to grant operating licenses for the exploration and exploitation of oil, gas and mines in the entire area of our Essequibo.”

He also ordered the creation of local subsidiaries of Venezuelan public companies, including oil giant PDVSA and mining conglomerate Corporación Venezolana de Guayana.

Venezuela has long argued the territory, which comprises two-thirds of Guyana, was stolen when the border was drawn more than a century ago.

There were reports that voting stations across the country were largely quiet on Sunday as most voters shunned the issue.

The turnout appeared so underwhelming that the Venezuelan government has been widely accused by analysts of falsifying the results.
