Game pass is the one problem with no great solution in sight… But not great doesn’t mean none. If you have an Xbox you can play them on the pc streamed over your Lan, and you can also stream games directly from the web as well.

Again, not great solutions, but it is unlikely we will see Xbox game pass running on Linux. I think MS will do anything and everything to prevent that.

Then there’s the not-solution of running a windows vm. You aren’t ditching windows with that entirely and, at least from what I understand, you’ll need a second graphics card to dedicate to the vm to get “bare metal” performance.

I am aware the DE can be changed, but it was just an honest answer to OP’s question. I downloaded like 8 different distros and put them on flash drives and tried them all out and that was what caused me to move on. I didn’t have kubuntu downloaded to try, probably because canonical seems to treat them as entirely different distros.

ie, some distros have the DE options when looking at the download page or have you choose during the live boot which to use and include multiple in one iso. Ubuntu makes no mention of those separate downloads unless you explore their site a bit further than the download page. It’s a minor difference but makes a difference when you’re grabbing a handful of isos to try out, you might miss it and assume the one iso has all the options available when it doesn’t, or that it is the only option they provide.

As for PopOS I actually did look into changing to KDE and the popular wisdom at the time on message boards was that changing to KDE would possibly or likely undo most of the benefits of the tweaks and changes system 76 made. I don’t have any idea if that is even true, just what came up when searching a few years back.

A heat pump still costs energy to run… And running it in reverse to cool a room is the exact same process as running an ac to cool a room. It’s all phase change cooling which we’ve been doing for decades. The only possible innovation that could be had here is using the waste heat instead of just releasing it to the outside environment, but that requires wanting to heat something else while you need to cool the server room.

PopOS and Ubuntu - really just found that I don’t like gnome. Nothing against it, I know some people love it but it is not for me. This would likely apply to any gnome distro, but those were the two I tried and immediately moved on.

This was my experience as well. Caused me to give up on Linux for a while as everyone was so eager to recommend manjaro back then.

I dunno the liklihood of that actually happening but I don’t see why it wouldn’t be possible… After all, they have the key to decrypt it and no reason to assume they didn’t also have the files… Something was hitting cpu and network usage to 100% for several days across several locations… It was a bad time. It’s probably more likely a feint to just install crypto bs on servers while IT is distracted, but still I have no reason to believe it wasn’t possible.

Absolutely use it at least weekly. My partner has Bluetooth wireless earbuds and they are always a problem - dropping connection, short and inconsistent battery life, dying at inopportune times, etc. They don’t seem to even notice these issues because they’ve used wireless for so long, but it always drove me nuts everytime I tried switching.
