If you wonder why moderates hate me his guy, it’s because moderate politicians keep going on his show and fucking it up

Clinton tried to get points for pretending she carries got sauce 24/7 for some reason.

    And Biden famously said:

"You can’t do that to Black media,” Charlmagne declared, as he pleaded with Biden for more time. “Because it’s a long way until November, we’ve got more questions.”

“You’ve got more questions, but I tell you … if you’ve got a problem whether or not you’re for me or Trump, then you ain’t Black,” Biden said tersely.

Which is a major problem with the Dem party. They keep running these elderly pro corporate candidates. And when anyone to the left of Ronald Reagan asks why they should vote D.

The majority of the time the answer is just:

What are ya gonna do? Vote Republican?

Even tho we know that’s not enough. The party just refuses to move to the left. And Charlemagne points that out and asks for real reasons

It’s a chance for them to speak to his audience. Instead they get mad the question is being asked

I’d never heard of him before he guest hosted The Daily Show a couple of weeks ago. He was okay, not terrible, but his manscaped-to-perfection facial hair and eyebrows make him look creepily narcissistic to me (maybe not surprising considering his chosen name).

Also, and I realize this is irrelevant, but the other Charlemagne was a king, not a god. If he wanted to call himself Charlemagne tha King, it would make a lot more sense, but it sort of feels like he doesn’t know who Charlemagne was.

That’s crazy considering big stories have came out of his show for the last 3 elections…

Did you honestly never hear about Biden’s comment the last time he was on the show?

"You’ve got more questions, but I tell you … if you’ve got a problem whether or not you’re for me or Trump, then you ain’t Black,” Biden said tersely

It was a pretty big story, so it’s surprising to see people who comment on political posts often saying they’ve never heard of him…

I heard Biden said that, but I didn’t know where he said it.

I don’t really pay much attention to modern pop culture even though I pay a lot of attention to modern politics. I might have heard his name before, but it never stuck before. If it helps, I heard the name Doja Cat for, as far as I know, the first time a few days ago.

Apparently not, because Charlamagne is very political and has had a shit ton of politicians on the show to have a hard discussion on politics… Hell, Hillary also had a big story in the 2016 election from her appearing on his show.

Although, one of the main points he keeps repeating is that Dem politicians don’t seem to care about the Black community because they feel entitled to their votes just because they’re not Republicans.

It’s a valid point, and lots of people who claim to care about politics won’t stop proving him right…

I don’t disagree with him, I just wasn’t aware with him and think he looks a little creepy, but it’s not like he was a bad Daily Show host or anything. He just didn’t stick out to me like (bizarrely) John Leguizamo did. I don’t have an actual problem with him. I’m just ignorant.

I know this is supposed to be a putdown but CtG is a huge figure in black entertainment. Him (justifiably, IMO) criticizing Biden is having real effects on Biden’s polling.

Then why wouldn’t you read the article or even just Google it if the article didn’t explain it well enough for you?

He has one of the largest “radio” morning shows in the country, and lots of his listeners are you g and Black, a demographic Biden has had trouble with ever since he sided with Republicans against school busing.

Unfortunately Biden gets offended anytime a Black person doesn’t kiss his ring for having a D by his name.

Like, have you honestly never heard Bidens quote from this show? It was right after he refused to explain why he deserves votes from the Black community

"You’ve got more questions, but I tell you … if you’ve got a problem whether or not you’re for me or Trump, then you ain’t Black,” Biden said tersely

Then he quit the interview, because he didn’t want interviewed, he wanted everyone to tell him how thankful the Black community was for Biden not being trump.

It was (and still is) a pretty big news story…

Because it’s not worth clicking on an article to find out someones opinion when I have no idea who they are.

Might as well say Morgan Wallen has mean things to say about Biden, and that’s a problem. No idea who that is either.

The information worth knowing is from a different article right below this one:

            https://lemmy.world/post/10230185

“A fraying coalition: Black, Hispanic, young voters abandon Biden as election year begins”

Way bigger news than what some guy on iHeartRadio thinks.

It’s almost like instead of being genuinely curious who he is, you’re just shitting on him…

Which a lot of people unfortunately do, then they act surprised why Biden is doing so awful with the Black community even when he’s running against trump.

Like, your attitude is exactly what Charlamagne is complaining about:

Lots of Democrats don’t actually care what the Black community wants, and refuse to listen.

They just feel entitled to every Black person’s vote simply because they’re a Democrat.

This guy is a huge voice for a demographic that Biden is doing absolutely terrible with, but an entire wing of the democratic party refuse to actually listen to him

It’s fucking sad to see voters do it, but it’s a national embarrassment the party leaders have been doing it for decades.

That controversial Biden quote is essentially correct though.

If a black person votes for republicans they are actively voting not only against their own interests but also for blatant racist fascism. Doesn’t matter if they don’t like what the not racists have to offer otherwise.

Because your mega fucked binary political system doesn’t allow for a third option they can only choose between the status quo with possibly minor improvements, or making it infinitely worse.

That controversial Biden quote is essentially correct though

The context was Biden was given an opportunity to tell Charlamagene’s audience about why they should vote for him.

Biden is doing terrible with that demographic.

And instead of taking that platform and doing the absolute bare minimum a candidate can be expected to do…

Biden basically told them to fuck off and they don’t have a choice.

              That may be true

But anyone stupid enough to say that should not be anywhere near a political campaign for animal catcher, let alone US President.

Especially when the reason Biden was on the show in the first place, was to address the concern that neither party care about the Black community and Dems feel entitled to their vote.

And Biden just went in there and confirmed their concerns and openly doubled down on it.

People are mad at Charlagmene for mentioning a very real issue. But not at Biden for being the one currently causing the issue

Everyone is super pissed at Charalgmane for wanting Biden to actually explain to the Black community why they should vote for him.

Charalagmene was giving Biden a chance to convince them. But Biden got offended and said:

"You’ve got more questions, but I tell you … if you’ve got a problem whether or not you’re for me or Trump, then you ain’t Black,” Biden said tersely.

Which is probably the worst fucking answer you could respond with.

Instead of being mad at Biden for fucking up a giant softball question, they’re mad at the Black host who dared to ask and then tried to insist Biden answer.

It was bad for Biden, because it shows how Biden is going to pull a Hillary and assume people have to vote for him so he doesn’t even have to campaign.

“Why should we vote for you” is the one question every candidate should be expected to answer at any moment. But Biden was downright offended a Black person even asked.

Instead of thinking of better ways to play up policy achievements, he argues, Democrats rely too much on depicting former President Donald Trump as a crook.

“It’s almost like Democrats are doing this purity test. America is not pure. The people of America are not pure. We’re flawed,” he said. “I’m not looking for my politicians to be pure, … I’m looking for my politicians to be effective.”

“It’s almost like Democrats are doing this purity test.

It’s because they’re all old. This is the way politics was done in the '90s. Either they don’t know/can’t see things have changed, or they don’t care.

And then later on he says that Trump sent checks and that was impactful. Biden did the same but he argued Biden didn’t play it up the same way. So he doesn’t actually care about effectiveness because both had the same effect.
