  • Man…

You’d think you’d have realized that capitalism was the root cause at some point of typing that…

In our economy, what matters is how much the numbers go up. At a certain point the only way to make profit keep increasing is to outsource and cut quality.

Like, you think it’s just because they’re dumb, but you’re not looking at the same metric.

You want long lasting corporations making steady profits and quality products…

But that’s not what’s best for the people who own the stock. All they want is their number to go up as fast as possible so they can sell when it’s high. Then do the same to another company.

    You want to change that?

Vote for progressives who want to tax stocks to incentive long term investments rather than the current system.

This isn’t a tech problem or a even a management problem. It’s an economic one.

  • Remember the right-wing frenzy over “Rich Men North of Richmond”?

Oliver Anthony almost immediately clarified that Trump and Republicans were *also" the people he was talking about…

This is the danger of Dems moving “to the right”. They’re doing it on topics that lots of rural voters already hate that Republicans do.

The only people happy with the Dems move to the right is wealthy donors. It doesn’t gain any ground with voters, just normalizes the shitty stuff republicans do and gives more credence to one of the most common reasons eligible voters don’t vote:

Who am I supposed to vote for? The Republican who’s blasting me in the ass or the Democrat who’s blasting me in the ass?

  • The ICC issuance of arrest warrants against Israeli leaders is outrageous. Let me be clear once again: whatever the ICC might imply, there is no equivalence — none — between Israel and Hamas. We will always stand with Israel against threats to its security.

The worst part about people like Biden, is despite all evidence they’ll never understand others think differently.

Even after the last year, Biden really thinks this is true, and that the majority of people forced to vote for him four years ago agree.

Joe Biden, like all neoliberals who squeak thru, only became president in spite of himself by Republicans being legitimately insane.

  • So uh…

When I clicked this link it popped up with someone’s real name and a picture saying they’re the ones who shared it with me…

OP you might not want to leave this up if that’s you.

I’ve never seen something like that before

    Edit:

OP may not see my comments, so if people up voting me are doing it because they saw it too, you may want to reply to OP directly so they’re aware.

We don’t agree on most things, but I don’t want to see anyone doxxing their selves because the website is thirsty for subscribers.

  • 100%

That’s the only reason Republicans shit talk other Republicans.

They’re mad one got a special spot and they didn’t.

It’s going to be our saving grace, people act like they don’t remember how many votes it took to get a House leader.

They’ll stop each other from doing horrible shit, because they all want the credit and acclaim from doing horrible shit.

Like, not trying to jinx us, but I could see half the Rs wanting to deport anyone Hispanic, and the rest only wanting to deport immigrants. And they spend two years fighting over it till midterms and lose the House and/or Senate.

It’s just crazy she’s happy being a “chair person” in a subcommittee with 3 people total, all of which have the exact same title.

trump throws too many more chairs in there, and the ones that already have it get pissed because they’re not special anymore, and the cycle starts over.

If Mitch McTurtle doesn’t put the work in wrangling cats in both the House and Senate, it’s going to significantly limit Trump’s damage. And McTurtle only really cares about judicial picks. He ain’t going to put the work in to unite House Republicans, and there’s no House Republican who can do it.

  • I agree that Biden’s unquestionable support of Israel is a huge problem, but he’s legit not doing it for the donations.

He got so much more than any other US politicians, because Israel used to know that no amount of bribes could ever buy that level of loyalty.

Bibi never got that memo tho, he just knew he could treat Biden like shit and still get everything he wants.

The real reason Biden has this level of support for Israel is even stupider, because Biden is older than Israel.

He’s told the story multiple times over the decades, when he was a toddler and Israel was created, his dad told him to promise to always protect Israel because they were victims.

And it’s fucking insane that over 70 years later that’s what’s been guiding US foreign policy for four years and why we keep arming a genocidal religious ethnostate even though it was a huge contributed to trump regaining office.

But that’s why Biden will always give Israel everything they want, a promise a toddler made to his dad almost a century ago.

  • “I will say that a vote was taken,” Wild said. “As many of you know, this committee is evenly divided between Democrats and Republicans — five Dems, five Republicans — which means that in order to affirmatively move something forward, somebody has to cross party lines and vote with the other side — which happens a lot, by the way, and we often vote unanimously.”

If you’re wondering who these politicians are that agree across party lines on ethical issues:

    Republicans

    Chairman Michael Guest, Mississippi

    David P. Joyce, Ohio

    John H. Rutherford, Florida

    Andrew R. Garbarino, New York

    Michelle Fischbach, Minnesota

    Democrats

    Ranking Member Susan Wild, Pennsylvania

    Veronica Escobar, Texas

    Mark DeSaulnier, California

    Deborah K. Ross, North Carolina

    Glenn F. Ivey, Maryland

  • What?!

The 80s were fucked, but if you’re saying it was worse than the response to the Civil Rights movement…

    McCarthyism…

    Jim Crow…

    Or the KKK destroying reconstruction…

Like, I could see saying that last one was the point, only if you start the clock immediately after resolving the civil war. Cause obviously a Civil War is what really happens after a point of no return. We lasted a couple years in between the two points.

For as fucked as the last 40 years has been, as far as America goes we’re beating the average on basic human decency.

What’s happening now isn’t new, it’s a slip backwards, which is unfortunately common when you try to fight fascism with moderate politics. It works for a little bit because they’re coasting off the last people who really fought. But all moderate politcs really are, is giving fascist time to regroup in the shadows like fucking Sauron.

It’s a cycle, and we live in a time when you can learn pretty much anything about history in a few minutes on Wikipedia

America can not afford for voters to stay ignorant. We need people who know what happened last time, what worked then, and what might work again. Stop acting like we live in unprecedented times, and start reading up on how fascism has been defeated historically.

Cuz we’re up, like it or not shits getting real again. And the more people know what we’re doing then better.

  • Well, let’s see what Chuck Schumer probably thinks…

    https://www.opensecrets.org/industries/summary?cycle=All&ind=Q05&recipdetail=S

Number 7 on one of the few bipartisan lists in DC, nestled right between hos buddies Mitch McTurtle and Rafael “Ted” Cruz…

One of the few areas Biden is really head and shoulders above the rest though.

But Israel pays way too much money to both parties for either party’s leaders to actually do what’s best for America.

They’re gonna do what’s best for their campaign donations.

    Edit:

Since some people may be surprised number 2 doesn’t sound familiar, it’s this guy:

    https://apnews.com/article/bob-menendez-new-jersey-senate-resignation-9941e49020a032da3861f5f5cf118ec2

One of the most corrupt Dems to ever be held accountable (technically the trial is still happening).

He was Hillary’s co-campaign chair in 07 when she lost to Obama, and then Obama made him chair of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee for some fucking reason. He was indicted shortly after in 2018, but charges were then dropped for 5 years till 2023 when he was committing crimes and accepting bribes from foreign government with a legitimately trumpian level of skill at hiding his crimes.

Like, at one point I remember him trying to argue that storing gold bars inside of the suits in his closet was a totally normal thing and not related to him googling how to smuggle gold bars into America while he was in Qatar and just accepted gold bars as bribe…

  • Yeah, it was a single judge, and multiple Dems are gone too, Kamala is apparently in Hawaii, so a tie would have lost.

Every single fucking person with a D by their name needs to be in DC madly scrambling around the clock to do any and everything possible to mitigate imminent damage right now.

Like, I won’t lie. A single judge is more than I expected, and I’m happy we got it.

But fuck it, we have the Senate, a single vacancy when Biden hands over the keys is too much.

    https://www.uscourts.gov/judges-judgeships/judicial-vacancies/current-judicial-vacancies

    45 vacancies, 15 pending…

And one got voted today when they have the numbers?

I don’t say it enough, but Chuck Schumer is a fucking problem and shouldn’t be in a party leadership position. Compare him to the Republican counterpart Mitch McTurtle. That dude spent decades saying courts was the number 1 priority, literally all thru Chuck Schumer’s political career.

It’s been wildly effective but also done in an unethical manner

And yet when Trump is about to move in with a Senate majority, and we have an ethical manner to fill every vacancy…

    Why aren’t we?

  • The rich 100% would.

But it doesn’t matter, because the narrative of that happening would translate to more votes than literally any advertising all the money in the world could buy.

Seriously, absolutely nothing could ever help a Dem become president more than all the wealthiest people in the country losing their shit over just the possiblity that a Dem becomes president.

An alien invasion wouldn’t unite American voters as much as that would.

The reason Dems keep losing, is we’ve lost the “anti-establishment vote”.

The party turning their back on them would be all people would talk about, it would fill the news cycle the entire campaign.

And even though media would present it as a terrible idea…

That’s how they presented trump to, look at how that worked out.

  • “following politics” is not the same as “voter engagement”.

Someone that never pays attention but votes R every two years like clockwork for example.

They’d be “do not follow closely” on that, but if they 60 years old and voted R every election since they’re were 18…

How exactly are they “politically disengaged”?

They’re still voting, just not paying attention.

Like, there are loads of over things we’re going to have to clear up for you to understand, but getting that difference is step 1.

If you understand this mistake, we can probably move forward and cover other stuff. But if you don’t get this comment, nothing past it is going to be productive.

A lot of this is coming from the horrible headline that co flates the two, and is outright false.

So far trump has the most votes, he literally won with the politically engaged, because those are the people who voted.
