Electrek isn’t the best resource, but the original information is from like an 1-hour 40-minute Youtube video (as well as a 5+ hour livestream test of the Cybertruck’s range). Link in the Electrek article.
The 254 mile highway range test is perhaps the most troubling issue brought up so far, and even pro-Tesla outlets like Electrek is bringing it up as an issue.
Uh, that’s way less than advertised. I also have doubts about them actually ever selling the range extender on top of that. They say that it was cold, but it was 45°F, that’s not all that cold. How much more will it drop in freezing conditions? Seems like it isn’t much of an actual truck.
It’s an obvious piece of expensive shit for idiots, which I’m pretty sure is deliberate. It’s a sort of flex
And the extender sits in the bed of the truck…
You know, the part that you need if you need a truck…
Edit:
I saw a video which led me to believe that the range extender goes in a compartment under the bed, so it doesn’t affect cargo capacity. Am I wrong? The article says the range extender takes up cargo space. Huh. Well, it’s not like I was in the market for one of these stupid things anyway.
My escooter does 40 miles when it’s 70+ outside but will only get 25-30 in the 30-40 degree range. That said, the Cyber Truck looks stupid and does a shitty job as a truck.
Gosh, it seems like Tesla’s claims are just made up or something. Like the thing costs twice as much, is short a third of its range, is four years late to market, doesn’t have a magical exoskeleton, charges slow… it’s like Tesla answered the question “What if we made en EV pickup, but worse than the ones already on sale?”
And looks fucking stupid, don’t forget that. I legit thought it was a prank when they unveiled it
how many children did it plow through?
That’s not funny. There weren’t any around to even find out.
