The United States has announced the approval of the sale of more than $7.4bn in bombs, missiles and related equipment to Israel, which has used American-made weapons to devastating effect during the war in Gaza.

The state department has signed off on the sale of $6.75bn in bombs, guidance kits and fuses, in addition to $660m in Hellfire missiles, according to the US Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA).

The proposed sale of the bombs “improves Israel’s capability to meet current and future threats, strengthen its homeland defense, and serves as a deterrent to regional threats”, the DSCA said in a statement.

You seem to be operating under the ludicrous assumption that there will ever be non-Russian style elections in the U.S. again.

I mean Putin had to win two consecutive elections before he could become the dictator he is today. America still has time. There’s still freedom of speech, freedom of assembly, a mostly independent judiciary, and all the other hallmarks of a democracy. These things will be taken away if the American people don’t resist, but again that takes time. It’s way too early to conclude that American democracy is doomed. Minorities (and everyone else Republicans hate) do have a lot to worry about, but America is not a fascist dictatorship just yet.

Please give a realistic scenario in which Republicans would willingly give up the total control of the U.S. government that they have now.

You’re acting like you’re not worried at all. 🤔

When they lose the midterm elections? The institutions of American democracy aren’t yet eroded enough that a bunch of dictators can just declare that elections don’t matter. They need more time before they can just… Refuse to give up power. Things like freedom of speech and freedom of assembly, not to mention the independent power of the judiciary and states, would have to go first. If they pulled such a stunt in two years they just might push the blue states to secede, which would be too much of a shitshow even for the GOP.

You’re acting like you’re not worried at all.

I mean I don’t live in America so I’m not personally worried.

Why would they acknowledge that they lost? Why would they give up power if they lost? You’re just saying they will. Why?

I mean I don’t live in America so I’m not personally worried.

And there it is. “The genocides won’t affect me, so I’m not worried about it.” Plus, they’re icky queer and brown people, am I right?

You’re just saying they will. Why?

Again, because if they don’t the country will implode and they’ll lose all power. Or the military will physically remove them. Dismantling a democracy isn’t something you can just declare. It’s a lot of painstaking hard work, especially in a country with checks and balances as strong as America.

And there it is. “The genocides won’t affect me, so I’m not worried about it.” Plus, they’re icky queer and brown people, am I right?

I said personally for a reason. It’s another bad thing happening in the world that I hope won’t happen, but don’t have the emotional capacity to strongly sympathize with.

Your lack of sympathy over the two genocides going on in the U.S. is noted. I guess there’s only room in your heart for one genocide.

              Also, this is fucking hilarious:

because if they don’t the country will implode and they’ll lose all power. Or the military will physically remove them.

But I don’t blame you for not knowing why what with you not having lived in the U.S. for 47 years.

“Why doesn’t anyone care about the German victims of Nazism like they do the Jewish victims”

You do understand why no one gives as much of a shit about your “genocide” in the US, y’know aside from it not happening in the first place.

Yes, I do understand that humans are selfish, sadistic creatures who don’t give a shit about people suffering if they get to feel smug about it.

I just wish that wasn’t the case.

Sadly, you are not changing my mind on that.
