There is no link between the informational realm and the physical realm. Proof of work is the only thing that creates this link in a probabilistic fashion, because it creates information that speaks for itself. — Gigi
The lightning network implementations are implementing channel splicing, which would allow for channel capacity changes without a full close-reopen cycle.
Any non-custodial wallet will work tbh. The best wallet would be a desktop one that is solely used for your chosen network and gives you total control over your funds, like Electrum (https://electrum.org) for bitcoin. Ideally it would also let you connect to your own node, although that could be used to trace transaction origins. Your wallet is only as private as you are :3
It sounds overcomplicated, is there really a need for the blockchain aspect? Could the same security be provided by a simpler method (like how keybase has their identity proofs?) but better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it ig
What’s everyones thoughts on the Lightning network? Sending payments has been fine in my experience, it’s almost as fast as something like apple pay.
ser the word “they” exists 😂
glad you think so!
which block are you on now?
theres a few who do, the activity is centered around irc and the forums.
yeah, lightning nodes are hot. you can reduce the risk by moving the signer off-device, or using only psbts to open channels, but i think thats about it.
theres some activity over at c/bitcoin@discuss.tchncs.de :3
sounds cool but looks gimmicky, and much bulkier than something like a trezor
Rebalancing can be done on-chain via submarine swaps, but its usually cheaper to stay on lightning and send a payment to yourself.
oh, do you mean the channel balance? lightning node operators have to occasionally rebalance their channels, usually by moving funds from a “full” channel to an empty one. channels dont revert cause thatd undo the transaction x3
if im understanding correctly, the lockup period is only there if the preimage isnt revealed within the set time so the person sending the funds can safely recover them. once the payment has settled, that lockup is useless and discarded.

yeah, i agree with the OP. decentralized networks have a hump thats hard to smooth out, and activitypub isnt the best protocol in the furst place.
blocking the intermediate domain works for me with twitter, it fails the first time and gives up trying to rewrite.
