  • One would expect that any competent national leader would’ve requested an intelligence folder about Trum,p at the lastest when he was elected POTUS, and this being Germany, they have the capability to produce one which is very complete and beyond what we common mortals can deduce about the man’s nature.

Whilst a politician in such a high position in a country isn’t necessarilly more capable of analysing things than a common mortal (though it’s logical to expect they’re significantly better at judging people than most, since that’s a requirement in their profession and to reach such a high position they must be top performers at it), they most certainly have access to much better and deeper information than any of us and to people who can do the analysing for them.

  • It’s funny how the criminal immediatelly implied that it’s a Jewish characteristic to be a criminal like him, just like he and his minions (which includes the American Administration) have been continuously implying that commiting all manner of horrid crimes, from theft and rape all the way to Genocide and purposeful child mass murder, is a Jewish chacteristic.

Like the last bunch of Nazis, these people aren’t merelly immoral, they’re so depraved, disgusting and devoid of even the most basic humanity that they’ll slander millions of those they claim to defend in order to avoid the consequences of acting like the most extreme and out of control psychopath (far beyond mere Serial Murderer and well into Hitler-level).

  • Well, sorta.

Plenty (maybe even most) of 1st level manages will see and understand, but are still unable or unwilling to push back on unrealistic expectations coming from outside (sometimes not even from above, just from customer) so from the point of view of those working under them the result is the same if they’re not doing their own internal time reporting averaging and and are honest towards them.

Further, they often fuck-up things, from planning to analysis and taking in account the dependencies on external providers and it’s the team that has to make up for it. Absolutelly, the managers will notice people going the extra mile … and do the same thing again next time around and it will be just as “unexpected” and “we have not other option” as all the previous times.

I would even go as far as saying that the “understanding” manager that fucks you up anyway (sometimes because they’ll always put themselves above those working for them and might even be fake, others because they’re not very good at playing the game that needs to be played to other stakeholders) is the most common of all.

Looking back (to almost 30 years of experience in several countries), some of my worst managers were “really nice” people but the team still suffered massivelly because they were not in fact good managers (they suffered alongside the team, for all the good that did to the rest) - essentially the team was holding the career of somebody who should probably be doing something else and at the end of the day, the managers rather than the rest were the ones getting more pay and bigger bonuses.

  • Yeah, but they’re great at discharging the righteous indignation of people who might otherwise do something extreme like going on demonstrations or start campaigning for non-“moderate” political parties.

This way people just put their personal data next to a meaningless and powerless piece of text on a website alongside that of other people, get the feeling of release after having done something about what pisses them of, and won’t do anything further about it.

Petitions are the single greatest invention of the Internet Age to keep the masses dormant (Social Media would’ve been it if, it wasn’t that, as the far-right has shown, it can be used to turn some people into activists).

  • Well, that’s the second part of my theory but I didn’t went into it to avoid muddling the point I was making:

    • I think the “neutral” majority shift more to one side or the other depending on who dominates society and the main sources of culture and information in it.

So in present “Greed is good” (very much a Sociopath slogan) times with mainstream media and a large section of the Culture production and distribution (in the form of TV, but also TV Show and Movie making) in the hands of extremelly wealthy people and when those we are told we should look up to are people like Musk (well, him specifically maybe not anymore) and Bezos, the “neutral” majority has shifted significantly towards the asshole side of things.

The World would be a lot different if our “heroes” were Scientists and Environmentalists.

  • Same here and for me too it was gaming holding me back, though I mostly buy my games via GoG hence use Lutris and it’ve had a pretty low rate of games that won’t work at all (and, curiously, one of them which won’t work in Steam works fine if I use a pirated version with Lutris), though maybe 1/3 require some tweaking to work properly.

It’s also interesting that by gaming in Linux with Lutris I can make it safer and protect my privacy because Lutris let’s me do things like run the game inside a firejail sandbox which I have set up as default for all games including disabling network access for the game.

Still have the Windows partition around just in case, though the only time I booted it in the last several months was to clean up some of the stuff to free one of the disks to make it a dedicated Linux disk.

  • When you’re in the middle of overtaking another car and somebody comes behind you too close and blinds you with their lights, THE most dangerous thing you could possibly do is rush the overtake and pull-over, because your ability to check the position of the car you’re overtaking using your side mirrors is compromised (either because you’re blinded by the lights behind you or might get blinded at a crutial moment if the car behind you flashes their highbeams at the wrong time) so changing lanes in that situation is the very opposite of what you should be doing.

Getting close to the tail of somebody on the highway and flashing high beams trying to pressure that person to move out of the lane is incredibly selfish thing to do because it activelly pushes the other person to endanger themselves, their passengers and even those on the other lane, and to add insult to injury that method of “pressure” requires breaking 2 traffic rules - safe distance from the car ahead and the use of high beams when it might blind another driver. Even in a situation were you’re blinded because the lights of the vehicle behind are too high, they’re still committing at least one traffic infraction: either they have not adjusted the aim of their lights to the legally mandated distance or they’re not maintaining a safe distance from you.

Further, slowing down and only changing lanes when you feel it’s safe to do so are exactly how as per the traffic rules you should deal with lower visibiility conditions.

I can understand the impulse to get out of the way, but you’re actually endangering yourself and others if you do so when your visibility is compromised.

Absolutelly, you’re overtaking slowly and you notice far behind a car fast approaching you and it’s the nice thing to do to go a bit faster and finish the overtake. However if they are excessivelly close and start imparing your visibility with their lights, safety comes first and that actually means slowing down and pulling over only when its again safe to do so.

  • Well, I’ve lived in The Netherlands and I would say that the extra complexity of the bicycle path (which generally leads to a bicycle roundabout outside the car one) does push for having to help drivers a bit extra in the absence of traffic signs managing the thing (since anybody exiting the roundabout still has to give way to bicycles).

That said, even in my own native Portugal, were maybe 9 out of 10 of all drivers do not properly and reliably use the direction indicators (from personal experience I would say the quality of driving here is one of, if not THE, worst in Europe) roundabouts are all over the place, clearly help and don’t seem to be any more accident prone than regular T and X junctions.

  • It’s probably a similar reason to why the european country that first asked for sanctions againat Israel was the Republic of Ireland, who like Palestine and until the early XX Century was occupied and oppressed by a larger neighbhour, in their case the United Kingdom: when you suffered it yourself or grew up hearing the stories from those who suffered it, it’s a lot easier to understand the true depth and hurt of what’s being done to a people in a similar situation as you, your paraents or even grandparents were once in.

It also explains why Germany still unwaveringly supports Israel: they naturally empathise with the strong military power that’s trying to control a “lesser race” in a territory they occupy - it’s painfully obvious that “never again” wasn’t at all about the violent genocide of a weaker ethnic group by a stronger one driven by cold violent extreme racism (the kind who describes another etnic group as untermenschen/human animals) and greed, but was only ever about Germans vs Jews, hence Germany ending up again involved in a Holocaust on the side of the genociders.

  • It should be painfully obvious by now that Elon Must is one of those “I know best” Pigheaded Ignorants.

He always “knows best” so almost a century of auto engineering verified by trillions of hours of actual field use are meaningless next to his “superior” ideas (which whilst looking like UI design are painfully devoid of actual UI/UX expertise).

It’s the same reason why when he started Tesla he tried to fully automate car manufacturing whilst having zero experience in auto manufacturing and it blew up badly and all his early factories had to be retooled and hire actual auto-workers.

No wander he turned out to be a rightwing-nutter: In my experience “I know best” Pigheaded Ignorants is one of the most common personality profiles in that tribe.
