Do you have problems with object permanence in everyday life? or just in your car?
Yup. I’m Bo7a.

I actually don’t disagree much about the Dev/UX parts of your comment. But you should take note that I was replying to the statement:
There doesn’t seem to be a “discover” feature
This is at the top of all of the mastodon servers I have an account on. If someone lacks the curiosity to click the word explore, then that is on them, not on the tech.
The downvotes on this are just strange. What impetus could there be for continuing to push the narrative that mastodon or lemmy are ‘difficult’ to sign up for and use? My wife(46) and mother(67), who are both technically impaired, signed up on the same day I did…
The process is so simple: All we did was google ‘mastodon canada’ and ‘lemmy canada,’ Then signed up for mstdn.ca and lemmy.ca.
Next steps? Nothing different than any other social site… Fill out the profile (like any other site) start looking for people and tags to follow (like any other site) and then bookmark the main page (like any other site).
This is ridiculous. Please turn in your nerd card.
And here in Quebec we are paying 6CAD(4.50)usd for a dozen… While not being embroiled in a war of our own design.
Correction: The 6CAD was for 18. That is what I get for checking grocery websites before coffee - It is more like 4CAD per dozen.
How long before the repost with ‘Whoa Black Betty’ as the caption?
Bummer. Thanks for checking anyway :)
This sounds like a fun read. Any chance you recall which thread?
I mean… I’m not the OP but I don’t think people against meta/threads fear their idiot userbase. We just don’t want to deal with them. At all. Anywhere.
Or we’d have joined threads.
And getting worse.
I don’t think I was confusing the defed from blocking, I was confused about what you meant. Thanks for the clarification.
I am given to understand that I will still see the comments from threads users on lemmy. Just not the posts from threads.
Like I said, I don’t care what others do. But for me the correct answer is to not interact with users from that platform.
When I start seeing threads users in .world lemmy comment sections I will block .world.
My pleasure. TMYK!
I’m not comfortable with assuming the dregs of Facebook will leave Lemmy alone. I’ll stick to instances that have defederated and I’ll actively block instances that don’t.
I’m not out here trying to stop you from being on federated instances or anyone else. But I will not personally support instances that allow that monster into the ecosystem.
Fair. But I’m on lemmy for discussion. I don’t want threads’ bobbleheaded userbase fucking up every discussion thread on lemmy. So I will stay on instances that have de-federated that shithole and urge other instances to do the same.
Not quite the same result. Blocking the instance stops you seeing their posts, but not the comments coming from their users.
I would cherish that day!
It will probably happen if this capitalist wet-dream mellows a bit and government is incentivized to provide their own internet infra regardless of profit. But I am 45 and will probably be long decomposed by then.
But in the near-term - I can’t see any land-based ISP covering where I live.
The cost to run 15km of lines to town, when even power poles don’t exist, just to service me and the one other nutter who decided to live up here would be prohibitive even for govt funded public internet.
Believing this tripe is what causes some people to not bother trying to improve the only actual life we have here on this planet. Comforting lies do not help.
