Luckily the train pulls up right next to my disabled grandpa’s house. And it drops him off right at the doctor’s office. No walking required!
Oh wait.

That’s what ballistic missile submarines are for.
I mean, there are 2.8 million civilians in the United States civil service. I’d imagine a country with 4 times the population would have a few more than that.
Precisely. And since these machine guns use water cooling, they might even be the most effective weapon for the job, period. That way they can fire for an extremely long time.
For the most part, I agree. LEDs are not the problem. The problem is either moronic drivers, or poor implementation of LED lights. As a driver of a very low car, the vast majority of my complaints about bright lights boils down to lifted trucks with ridiculous light bars, LEDs bulbs in halogen housings, or dufoids driving with their highbeams on. It doesn’t matter if the highbeams are halogen or LED, they’re both blinding.
That being said, there are cars with LED headlights that are blinding from the factory:
Then there are the cars that are designed by morons that have all instruments in the center console. That makes it harder for drivers to see when their LED highbeams are on:
But there are plenty of cars with LED headlights that I don’t have any issues with. In my experience, Mercedes and Audi seem to do a particularly good job of having bright lights for the driver without blinding anyone else.
And there are plenty of other cars with halogen headlights that are blinding from the factory too:
The luddites who want to strap jam jars with glowworms in them to the front of new cars are being ridiculous. Properly aimed LEDs are so much safer.
When I got my new car with LED headlights, I couldn’t believe how much more I could see. I could see fae down the road. Retroreflectors on lane markings far beyond the reach of my beams are visible. Pedestrians running across the street against the light wearing all black (true story) are visible! Despite clear lenses, new bulbs, and being correctly aimed, the halogen lights in my old Civic barely reached 100 feet down the road. My other halogen bulbed vehicle is better, but it’s still a far cry from what I’m used to now.
A good wool suit is quite insulating. I wore a 3 piece wool suit this summer when it was a bit warm. I wasn’t really sweating any more than I would be if I was wearing shorts and a Tee shirt.
No, they don’t have to be cheaper. In fact, I’d be willing to spend a bit more than I had to just to not deal with negotiation bullshit
Yes. Which is one of the many reasons why he’s a piece of shit.
The point I was making is that not having a Democratic majority in the Senate allows the Republicans to pull stupid shit like not confirming appointments, not letting any bills be voted on, and by letting a turtle run the Senate. When we lose Manchin, we’ll be in a situation where the Republicans could prevent any judicial confirmations from happening, assuming they pick up 2 seats.
No, this is a bad idea. This will unfairly punish poorer Congress m (like AOC and Bernie Sanders).
Mitt Romney has enough money to survive not being paid for a few days or weeks. Honestly, Mitt Romney’s congressional pay is a drop in the ocean that is his vast net worth.
AOC really depends on her congressional salary to be able to afford basic stuff. Cutting off that money could be devastating for poor members of Congress. They could lose their house (singular) or be unable to pay other bills.
At best, cutting off congressional pay will discourage not wealthy people from running for office. At worst, it could be used as a weapon by the right to punish representatives they don’t like.
Instead, we should prevent Congress members from leaving the capitol building until they pass a budget. Not for food. Not to go home and sleep. Not for a walk. This’ll affect everyone evenly, and will probably be more motivating after a couple of days.
The difference is being able to confirm judicial appointments. We have Gorsuch on the SC because the Republicans had a majority in the Senate and wouldn’t confirm Obama’s appointment.
Manchin is a coal dust covered piece of shit, but he’s the least shitty senator WV will probably ever send to the Senate. Don’t let perfection be the enemy of progress not going backwards.
Oh God. Trump in a tutu is a horrible image to have in one’s head.
Silly question. Porn of course.
Thankfully it’s changing a bit. I’ve noticed that newer Ford and Dodge full sized pickups use amber turn signals. I assume that these vehicles don’t sell very well in places that require amber turn signals (Europe).
Meanwhile, VW, Audi, BMW, Land Rover, and Mercedes all modify their amber European turn signals to red to sell in the US. For some reason, they go out of their way to make 2 parts instead of 1 for many of their models.
I think it’s a styling thing rather than a cost thing now. Back when taillights in the US were a single bulb on each side, cost was a driving factor. Now with complex LED taillights, I think it’s something else keeping amber out of our indicators.
Is it though? Presumably they’re making 2 separate parts. One with red indicators and one with amber. I can’t imagine that’s somehow cheaper than making one part.
People said precisely that during the early part of the Russo-Ukrainian war.
Tangentially related, but are job fairs even worth it? In my limited experience, you wait in a long line for someone to tell you to apply online. I was better off getting a list of employers who were attending, and then looking through each of their websites.
Skilling got 24 years which was reduced to 14 in 2013. Lay was convicted of crimes that have a max sentence of 45 years, but died before sentencing.
Bumblebees are super chill and cute.
My grandma was stung by a bumblebee after she ignored it bumping into her for 10 minutes. She was working in the garden next to its nest. I can’t think of another organism that has that kind of patience.

They do indeed. My area has them. However, those buses require riders to book a ride a day in advance, which is far from ideal. But even if that wasn’t the case, you’d have to wait for the bus to arrive, then you have an unknown transit time (depending on who else is being picked up and dropped off) to your destination.
There doesn’t seem to be a good option for disabled people’s mobility.
