  • For $17 a month tho?

I don’t think OP is paying that monthly. It’s 18,99 a year for me, or 114,99 for a lifetime sub. $19/year is a lot more feasible to throw at an app you like to use because it makes browsing Lemmy a lot easier.

Like, I just can’t imagine anything that’s worth it with as little content is on Lemmy

Here’s a screenshot of the perks so you don’t need to imagine anything. Whether it’s worth it is up to the individual. Usually people pay for a sub because they want one or a few perks and consider the rest a bonus.

I mean, password managers aren’t complicated, and each account is individual so everything would stay straight… Hell, I browse the website on a phone browser that doesn’t save anything and I have to randomly sign back in. It still takes just a finger press on my password manager.

I can tap on the top of my screen and then switch accounts with a tap on the username. No logging in required and feed refreshes automatically. This is one example but the answer to all your “why’s” is mostly the same: convenience.

I dunno, I’m not trying to convince you you’re making terrible choices and should stop.

Personally I am well aware of the caveats but for the reasons stated earlier it’s working out so far for me. I think you started off on the wrong foot thinking it’s 17 a month and not being aware of what perks a premium app could offer.

The premium sub for Sync also includes other perks that users might find helpful. An app is also nice if you want a view that’s tailored to your screen. It lets you save, hide and customize posts and comments with ease.

I’m on the free plan myself and it’s great just to be able to curate my feed and manage multiple accounts. I don’t need much else, but I can definitely see why people pay for the convenience.

  • I believe if you hit the X you can hide the ad and give a reason. The other icon takes you to an article that tells you how to change some settings, but it’s a web of options.

This setting might be related, as it should allow you to toggle personalised ads in sites that partner with Google. The article at least mentions this.

You can find a support article on how to report ads as well in case you see any real sketchy stuff, but I was only able to report a handful of ads that were later confirmed to not be violating any rules. Even though those were crypto ponzi scheme ads presented by Phony Stark. Google doesn’t care, they just want the ad revenue.

  • Yeah you’re not wrong, it sucks. People treat it as a “I disagree” button while it was intended for off topic comments and spam.

Then the hive mind takes over and people pile on. I used to call it the reddit hive mind, but I guess it’s not limited to that.

I know it’s frustrating but I don’t think we can change human nature. If you are sure you said nothing “wrong” (like hate speech, off topic comment, etc) then it’s best to shrug and move on.

Dutchie here to explain why that’s not ironic:

If its a dotted line cars are allowed to use it, but only if it doesn’t impede on cyclists. So while they didn’t have to be there, it’s not unlawful as there’s no cyclists.

If it was a single line, it’s a different story.
