Yeah that makes sense. Except, there are no humans here. Only nerds.
Yes. You are everywhere.
I like star trek, and I like R-movies. I don’t know if they will mix well.
He makes video essays on YouTube, and he recently did a lengthy essay about plagiarism on YouTube. Now it’s kind of a meme to add sources to everything you put on YouTube.
It’s probably the comfortable mouth shape from their native tongue. If you ever try to speak a language fluently you’ll notice that your mouth is not used to these shapes and fatigue will set in eventually.
I’ve noticed this myself when I was in America. After using the language 24/7 my mouth would start to cramp up, and falling back to my native mouth shape made the cramps less. I pride myself on my English pronunciation, and cringe when I hear other people from my country speak English, but I understand where it comes from.
Life’s all downtime when you look at it.
I swear I’m not refreshing lemmy every chance i get…
Sounds like it wouldn’t be a bad thing archiving it somehow. A lemmy archive of sorts. For preservation. Not saying my instance has a lot of value, but linux questions, fixes for games etc on the lemmyverse as a whole. It could be text only, so it doesn’t have to take up an exorbitant amount of storage.
Federation is a double edged sword imo. The data might be valuable to some in the future, like reddit is if you have a problem, there often is a thread about it. But being that most servers are self-hosted, the data can dissappear more easily than a big corporation hosting it. But I rather take it. For the support Foss and for cutting ties to big corporations.
I’m not sure if, for instance, I stop hosting my server, if the community data is archived on other servers. I’m not a programmer.
The value of information or entertainment might not seem relevant. Though the spreading of information or entertainment might.
It’s all personal. A datamining company like Google holds value in it by presenting you ads that are relevant to your interest. Considering that Google holds little power in the fediverse, the value does not come from there.
The value of spreading information or entertainment is subjective, though sometimes quantifiable in that people might buy a product because of a post. I know I bought a few games thanks to lemmy.
I short: not usually financially. Maybe mental value.
Good to see other countries are voting a little more sane than my country. I’m ashamed of our last election result.
The Netherlands, that is.
And Impressive fucking
My instance is still on 0.18.5, and sync works. I think something went wrong with his preferences. Try clearing all data and cache. You will have to set sync up again, but if you have saved your preferences either in a file or in the cloud, this shouldn’t be too much of a hassle.
The new sync is prepared for 0.19 but still compatible with older versions.
Great! Now we wait for lemmy 0.19 to go stable!
Oh no! Sexual stuff for children! Better replace it with violence. That’ll keep the children clean.
“He says that the company withdrew money that was already in his YouTube payments account.” this is the huge part not included in this summary. I don’t think an employer can withdraw money from an employee’s account. At least not in the EU.
But I’m not a lawyer.
It should. It’s the universal way to link communities. Most 3rd party clients support it.
I don’t imply to be an expert. But all the information I got was from the first paragraph of vlad the impaler and vlad II Dracul.
It is interesting that in Romania it’s a synonym for devil. That’s metal.
But about the midieval origins, Vlad the Impaler is from the actual middle ages. As is his father. So I would assume the midieval origins are “the Dragon” or “Son of the Dragon”. Any other origins might be influenced by Vlad II or Vlad the impaler.
They might have been: Vlad Bad, Dragon = devil. And it stuck. But I don’t know. I’m not a historian.
Same reason people put movie characters, game characters or dragons in there. Because they like them, one way or the other.
