My prime was already cancelled because they billed me in early January, when that extra $100 could be used on Christmas gifts, so it always snuck up on me.
I didn’t use it enough to justify it anyway.
I’m able to get a lot of gear secondhand through my job, so I’ve got:
One 2u Intel server running proxmox in a ‘cluster’ (circa 2013ish. Added RAM and upgraded the CPU/storage.)
One Intel nuc with an i7-7th gen as the other host in the cluster - only one VM is set to fail over between the two if needed.

Plex+Plexamp works great for audiobooks
For some reason the regular Plex player would restart tracks on me after being out of the app for a long time. But Plexamp seems to have that one under control.
Oh, also, while we’re talking audiobooks, check out Graphic Audio versions of your various books. They do a great job

Meh, I prefer Vivaldi because I use it on PC too.
I like the extra customizability and features they offer vs the competition.
The way I’ve been using is to use the Vivaldi browser’s inbuilt adblocking. Comes with the added benefit of syncing to other devices and background audio playback so I can lock my phone and still have audio playing.
The mobile version of the website is also functionally identical to the app, sans advertising.

Honestly, I completely agree with the sentiment, although in this particular case OP just asked “upgrade to 11 or Linux?” While indicating that they already have some degree of comfort with Linux after having it on a laptop, so the Linux advocates in this thread have a bit of a leg to stand on in this case.
However: when there are questions like “how do I do X in Y software on Z operating system” it’s completely valid to be frustrated with the evangelists who come out of the woodwork and say “just use this other OS” because it completely misses the point of the question.
And that goes for Windows, Mac, and Linux evangelists.
Lemmy as a platform is built on FOSS. There are going to be Linux/FOSS advocates all over here.
I say this as primarily a windows admin who recently started diving into Linux.
The “real answer” is that Windows 10 is supported until October 2024. You have until then to make your decision or switch to an alternative because after that, W10 won’t be getting more updates and you risk running an unsecure system at that point.

Because of that I’m planning to get a bigger NVME drive and dual-boot my system on Windows and Linux. I did a full switch for a couple months after the beginning of the year and it went alright.
