This makes me irrationally angry. I don’t need my phone babysitting my ears and the notification doesn’t happen nearly frequently enough to matter anyway. It can be a distraction, especially while driving, i always think i need to pull over to answer a call but nope, just a half assed hearing protection measure.
Does anyone know of any apps or ways to disable the feature on android?
It will never be eco-friendly to drive 6000lbs of steel down a road to move one person and we should stop supporting the idea that it is possible because it is delaying the real impactful changes we could make
We could just change our culture and start making trucks work horses again instead of status symbols. Having every truck go electric helps a bit on emissions, but they are still dangerous to anyone outside of them, use massive tires, need massive parking spots, and continue car dependancy.
I hate that it is a massive pick up truck being advertised as the EV of the future. What happened to small, light, effecient cars? Sure some people need trucks and they might as well be electric in the future but it seems practical options for effecient electric vehicles get very little production and promotion.
Haptic feedback like knob clicks or button presses are much easier to use without taking eyes off the road as often.
Just buy reusable mesh bags and stop wasting plastic to protect your produce for a 20 minute car ride.

I’ve found that I rarely get called out for poor spelling or grammar on lemmy compared to other sites. So long as it is pretty obvious what the correct word or grammar is no one cares to mention. The exception is if the mistake is particularly humorous.
As true as that is, video essays may reach a wider audience due to their visual component that can keep people interested. Most people would rather watch a video than read an essay or listen to one.
Most people who make video essay videos include relevant footage, graphs/charts and diagrams, not just them sitting there and reading.
The 23 and me stuff is expecially scary. It is bad enough giving out genetic information to a company. It is even worse when that information is stolen.

TLDR if a big enough genetic data bank is aquired by the wrong hands, discriminatory practices could increase significantly in job interviews, health insurance and other sectors. Chemical warfare could also be specifically tuned to specific genetic groups.

This feels shockingingly similar to how an AI could conclude to caring for humans. The humans are stimulated to be content by being in the matrix, their physical needs are met by the machines, no humans were “harmed” by the machine’s standards, and humans are for the most part unable to interfere with the machine’s decisions and goals.
Touch controls for burners are very dangerous in my opinion. What if i spill oil on the stove and touch screen? Now the oil might stop me from turning off the heat and the situation could quickly turn into a fire.
Kids are also still developing their pallettes. What they eat while they grow completely effects what foods they will desire and associate eating habits with when they grow older. Many junk foods share ingredients and flavours compared to a wider variety of whole foods.

This is even worse IMO. The youtuber can have an active comment section but pause comments if discussion goes somewhere they don’t like, such as criticizing their topic. They can then request certain comments to be removed or accounts blocked/banned.
This can guve the appearance of free speech while actually promoting censorship.
Even without the entire bathroom being a shower, having the entire bathroom be water tight with a drain just seems like the right idea. Drippings/splashes from the shower, common location for plumbing repairs, clogged toilet, in general a humid place. Building it not water proof is just setting up for failure.
