  • The way I see it is this: sure there are millions of reasons to hate drug companies. To be distrustful of them. But if my doctors say that something is the best course of action, of course I will do that. My doctor said that Covid vaccines are abundantly safe, as are flu vaccines. My doctor is great. I have great trust in her opinion. Therefore, I will get my Covid and flu vaccines as often as I need to.

I don’t know fuck all about the way these things work. But I do know I trust my doctor because she has been through all the education and has a decade plus of being a family health doctor. I trust her. And I think people should be more inclined to trust their doctors rather than random weirdos on the internet.

  • Dallits for those who don’t know, are literally ‘The untouchables’ as in people will use a tissue or gloves to shake hands with them to prevent accidental skin in skin contact.

They are seen as the lowest of the low. Worth noting too that even if someone from this group emigrates to say the US or UK, other Indians may still treat them with this level of disdain. It’s ingrained into the culture. There have been some rumblings about Caste-ism being legislated against in several countries. But some people claim this is not fair to Indians since it’s so integral to the culture. Some argue that even legislating against Caste-ism is a form of racism. Seems totally insane to me. But I am not Indian so what the fuck do I know.

Either way, this story is fucking despicable.

  • 26 year old here. Happens constantly. I really wish reality would let me kinda pause time for a second like in a video game, so I have time to weigh up my options. Tbh tho, I’d probably still end up regretting things I’ve said

I’m getting better though. I can have a conversation with most people and most likely not say something completely fucking retarded. But there are times I say dumb shit and end up reliving those moments constantly in my head.

  • Basically if there are more older people in a society that need assistance and not enough working age people to assist them, it quickly becomes very problematic for the government. They are forced to scramble to do things like incentivise having children as well as attract foreign workers. If you don’t do this, older people will accuse you of abandoning them after they supported the country their whole life by paying taxes and not breaking the law etc. However, on the other hand, doing these things is expensive and can put huge strain on the country’s finances / economy.

It basically becomes a choice between losing votes and support of older generations or putting the country in a huge economic decline.

This is made worse too by the country’s unique culture and language. Something like this isn’t such a big deal in a place like say Canada, where it’s easier to get foreign workers into the country to fix this because they would all most likely speak English. However Korean is not a popular language outside of Korea. Getting in foreign workers as a temporary fix also comes with the challenge of teaching them about the culture, language, customs etc. It’s not as easy.

TLDR: This could cripple a lot of Asian countries if not dealt with.
