GlenRambo@jlai.luto Privacy@lemmy.ml•Recommendations for eBook reader devices, pleaseEnglish1·28 days agoAm I right in thinking the steps here scrape metadata images etc for the eBooks you already have. And that you may already own them via legal or high seas methods.
Or is there a way for Calibre to auto download eBooks from somewhere.
Implying Lemmy is the best/only place to get political news. :/
Some of us come here for fun and get our doom elsewhere.
I think the whole key is more of a conversation starter than just QR code. We all know what they are and dont ask people questions aboit them.
Does it have persistence when rebooted ?

YMMV

GlenRambo@jlai.luto Technology@lemmy.world•On the Day He Was Fired as National Security Advisor, Mike Waltz Used an Israeli App to Archive Signal MessagesEnglish8·2 months agoAs opposed to software distributed by CD tied to an African swallow?
Jokes aside. Backing up data to a software owned by a Chinese, American or Swiss company would have different implications. Different laws apply on how the government can access and use that data.
The third group does both.

Libreoffice Inkscape / gimp Firefox/Chromium Thunderbird Obsidian (for notes) Bitwarden Signal Syncthing

GlenRambo@jlai.luto You Should Know@lemmy.world•You should know there's a font designed to make reading easier, especially for people with low vision. It's called Atkinson Hyperlegible Next. How long until governments create email accounts or digital identities (I mean they already have the latter). Then they force social media platforms (who n turn force users) to use/link that as age verification and content blocking.
Can somone please send me a screenshot of this. Preferably with a red circle so I knlw what to look at.
Down voted to hell but whatever.
Xmanager it installs spotify patched without ads and premium features, the same as using revanced really. Its been cat and mouse for a long time but its pretty much down now.
Similar for the manga apps. They constantly get formed and taken down.
Invidious for YouTube is another example. Great when these things work but they need constant patching and fixing. The average person can’t just pick them up and use them.
