Seeing all the cats made me realize that we need to all participate to make the community what we want it to be. It’s clear to me there are a lot of lurkers based on the influx of cat pictures. The more we start posting in ANY instance the more visibility there will be for active users.

All the more reason to make more posts in other instances to flood the feeds with more diversity.

I really don’t see any value in AI art. AI pictures look like slop, AI music sounds soulless, AI writing I guess can be fine but usually sounds weird.

I just don’t see the value in AI because to me, every use case scenario for anything artistic is justified with a capitalist excuse.

I’ll give you the organizational ones, that’s understandable and not a bad reason. I suppose I have trouble getting behind taking the soul out of creating something just to slap it on an ad or product to sell something.

I’m still really struggling to see an actual formidable use case for AI outside of computation and aiding in scientific research. Stop being lazy and write stuff. Why are we trying to give up everything that makes us human by offloading it to a machine?

Why else? They don’t think it’s “worth it” because they only have so much money to go around and they don’t want to waste it on bullshit like needlessly expensive laundry detergent compared to their salary.

When a bottle of detergent is 2/3 your hourly wage why the hell wouldn’t you want to steal some if you could?

Man, capitalists will do literally anything to not pay people more money. You know people steal cause shit is expensive and they don’t have a lot of disposable income to waste on stuff right? Why inconvenience everyone. Pay people more and hire more workers.

Also cause the propaganda to get people to “want” stuff is so effective they start stealing just to have it.

Great article. It’s pretty obvious to me now that the Fediverse should have room to grow on it’s own naturally. It’s probably in the best interest to block any massive corporate entity from joining in and swallowing it whole.

It’s interesting seeing how fast it’s already growing due to mega corporate incompetence, and I think the sheer desire to escape that landscape is driving growth now and we should nurture that as long as possible.
