Agreed. If you support a form of government that doesn’t care about the voice of the people, you don’t deserve to have your own voice matter.
A couple of the decisions I can kinda see his reasoning as stated (such as wanting to wait to make psychadelics legal after regulations are passed) but that doesn’t change the fact that the optics are fucking horrible. And then pile decisions like this on that are just straight up the same shity pushover reasoning that allowed Trump to get to the point of trying to overthrow the government in the first place, and it starts to feel like Newsom started falling down the same alt-right rabit hole that your former-leftie college roomate did when he first started using weird logical leaps to justify dumb stances to his leftie friends before going full “enlightened tech-bro”. Can we get more politicans to grow some fucking balls please.
I agree, which is why I’m kinda happy this happened. Big companies (such as Apple) are notorious for this practice, so now that one of them is a victim, well, I was gonna say “maybe something will finally be done about it” but we all know that won’t happen so at least we can revel in the irony a bit.
Be the change you want to see in the world
I will start off by saying that anybody like those people who vote on a stranger’s character like that with such full confidence (especially condescendingly) in this day and age are just dumb in general. There was definitely a point where DeKrampus seemed like a smarter, more methodical Trump by vurtue of not constantly talking out of his ass (at the time), so I don’t blame people for thinking that was the case. But yeah, turns out people’s exterior demeanor and interior mechanics don’t really line up so nicely for those assumptions to hold water. Who woulda thunk it.
Here I thought he was playing it safe and only doing that to his policies. Good to know he’s a real trailblazer and expanding his ideals to every aspect of his political career. Now that’s the kinda consistency I admire.
I’m sure someone with more sophisticated understanding of prose than I appreciates this, but the fact that the last line rhymes with nothing else is bugging the absolute shit outta me.
(I know the first line doesn’t either but it doesn’t stand out as much)
As a somewhat recent homeowner who therefore benefits from the housing crisis, I agree 100%. Fuck hedgefunds. Even if it somehow were to tank the housing market and cut the value of my house in half, I’d still be down. After renting for a decade, I view my house less as an investment and more as a regular payment that won’t increase absurdly YOY, with the added benefit that I can destroy the walls as I please.
Bro check out his elipses, there’s no way he ain’t a 70+ year old whose daily routine is Fox News and crossword puzzles inside the rundown 70’s style rancher he bought for 5k right after he got married in his late 20’s
Clearly the solution is to fund Ukraine extra hard so we can get like, 5x the sunflower oil as previously (in reference to Sunflower Granny)
Absolutely true. It really is hard to watch people try to rationalize and justify Trump’s behavior when you’re already familiar with that brand of person. Even in the early days of the 2016 election, it was just flaberghasting to see how people would spin the shit he did and said because it was all so familiar to me, so I just thought they were stupid. There is nothing deeper. There is no “grand plan.” He’s just saying (and, to some extent, believing) whatever shit he thinks will make him appear “superior” or “infallible” in the moment.
I recently saw a comment to the effect of “democrats want power to be distributed latterally, while republicans want it in the form of an absolute heirarchy.”
Big “that thing that guy said” vibes over here indeed.
Overwhelming Dark Brandon Energy
Free market economy, y’all need to learn some economics!
Romney was one of the very few Republicans (along with the late John McCain) who continued to call out Trump for what he is after he won the primaries and critisize his fellow R’s, rather than immediately start dickriding, which is why he is one of the very few Republicans I have any level of real respect for. Plus, IIRC he’s a moderate by 2008 standards, which is basically a liberal today. OP must have known nothing about the guy, read “republican”, and immediately started making assumption.
Man, this is why I’m a backend dev, how ya’ll keep up with this shit…
Edit: Y’all responding with shit I’ve never even heard of before continues to disincentivise me from touching frontend
Indeed. Dark Brandon’s making progress on green infrastructure, public transit, medication accessibility, student debt, inflation (technically the Fed, but still) etc. Sure, he hasn’t made the US a utopia or anything, but considering how pissingly obstinate the opposition is, I had much lower expectations. I would have been happy just for him simply avoiding inciting an isurection.
Oh? We can bring impeachmebt to previous officers of the United States? Hey, anybody up for a round 3 of impeachments for Donald Turnip?
Weren’t right wing men weirdly obsessed with Taylor Swift a while ago? Specifically in a creepy misogynistic “it’s a shame she’s not having kids, what a wasted opportunity” kinda way? I remember reading about that somewhere.
If so, good for Taylor for now becoming an enemy to the creeps as opposed to an object of desire.
