  • Okay Ojay okay. Help me out. Why are you claiming that this is the question?

“The question was: how does someone find out something is peer reviewed”

Please literally show where you see this being asked. It was not asked in the top comment, nor is it necessary to ask. I don’t understand why you feel it is silly or unnecessary as it is very clearly used for a specific purpose when i read the top comment.

Again you are wrong. It was not the question of the top comment you responded to. That was a follow up question that is irrelevant because the comment you that started this discussion cleanly clearly and unambiguously removed any need to discuss how to find out if something is peer reviewed by the first words they started the comment with.

    If it is peer reviewed…

And they gave an example of something that you could do to further verify a peer reviewed paper. You can replicate the experiment and get the same results but then offered an example where there might be a problem with only reproducing the results, to them anyway

  • For what its worth (and its totally fine if you dont see it the same way) a free service that is promoting itself is a special type of advertisement and should be excluded from talking about ad supported content or when using just the phrase ads

That being said it is still equally disruptive but its not trying to schill you something you arent already committed to using and for free service thats an entirely fair way for them to try to get new subscribers and seems more like promotion than advertising

Agree to disagree but i do think its an important distinction when discussing ads

  • If you like modern rock, theres a free app (no ads or any bullshit either) or listen via website. Former radio DJ quit the industry and started his own online station. Im definately biased here as i used to listen to him all the time when i would drive all day long, but as its literally free and not supported by ads.

    No account needed also

Anyways if you like modern rock whatwasthatradio.com

It is dedicated to only playing new music

He didnt like all the amazing music that exists to continue to go completely unnoticed by commercial radio so hes doing it himself

Hes supported by subscribers on patreon etc

If i remember correctly all songs are 36 months or newer

This is a proper SOCAN licensed service (canadian broadcasting license I think) so hes doing it proper.

    www.whatwasthatradio.com

I personally have found at least a dozen new artists to listen to because of this free service

heres some of the bands he has done interviews with to give you an idea.

  • Is someone stupid because they don’t know how to change a light bulb? A tire? How to do laundry? How to cook a meal? Review a book? Write an essay? Manage a task?

It’s just skills people dont have that often make them look stupid to most people who have that skill. Especially when those tasks seem very trivial once you have that skill.

Being ignorant of something doesnt make someone stupid. But i do think being stupid often prevents you for fixing your ignorance

    Just 2 cents of thought

Edit: forgot to say every single person on the planet us stupid at something or about something but we may never have the opportunity to find out
