Wrong. They were sworn to Germany, and nothing else.

This was the oath they took in the Wehrmacht:

They were sworn to Hitler and to Hitler only. Google Führereid.

The Wehrmacht was sworn to Hitler and to nothing else.

Honestly just seems like a run-of-the-mill US red state take. “Muh gunz” is where it stops for them, fuck kids dying, we need more guns. If everyone carried an assault rifle the world would be at peace because there would be a good guy with a gun stopping the bad guy with a gun or something like that. I assume they meant the vapors from the gasoline, not from the cigarette.

The workers at my local gas station go outside of the shop to smoke. I once asked them if that wasn’t dangerous and they said they have a ventilation system that pushes the vapors out the other way and that it’s fine to smoke here (it’s still disallowed as per house rules but they don’t really care)

Reminds me of that old TV trope of saying “over and out”. This is not how you end a radio transmission. “Over” means that you are finished talking and are now awaiting a reply, “out” means that you finished talking and are going to stop listening for a reply. Saying both together is contradictory, you only say “out” when you’re done.

Asterix was pretty popular in the 90s Central Europe. The movies were in theaters, the older ones got prime time slots on TV, the comics were in every book store’s kids section. I remember laughing my ass off in the movie theater at the scene with the bear when Asterix in America came out.

When I was in elementary, my teacher said that “Lutetia” was how the Romans called the city of Liege. As an avid reader of Asterix comics, I knew this isn’t true and corrected her and said it was the Roman name of Paris. She insisted that it is Liege. Anyway, the next day, she came back to class and said that she looked it up and that I was indeed correct and Lutetia referred to Paris and gave me a chocolate bar and told me to keep reading comics. Good teacher.
