The senate is weird. It’s possible to lose seats even if your party gets more votes overall. 6 years ago was the Trump midterm so democrats did well. This meant a disproportionate number of senators up for reelection this year were either vulnerable democrats or safe republicans. So overall losing only 3 seats is not bad in that context.

I think democrats would, for the most part. Perhaps less enthusiastically, but since they hate Trump, I think it would not be a major issue.

The question is, how would low-information unaffiliated voters respond to having a socialist in the ballot? This is a difficult question to answer. Traditionally socialism is a bad word in US politics, albeit less so with younger voters.

Personally I don’t really buy the “Bernie would have won” stuff but there’s really only one way to find out.

This is the main issue with so-called originalists. If they dispassionately followed their own philosophy it would be one thing. The law is the law, as written and as intended by its authors. There is a certain undeniable logic to this approach, and I think even if you reject it, it is fundamentally a philosophy that one could respect.

But orientalists never did this. They have constantly engaged in at least as much “legislating from the bench” as other jurists. It is a rare day when we saw a decision where originalism overcame their right-wing ideology.

In practice, originalism is just a rhetorical weapon, and not a serious idea.

Not really the issue. Deflation is a transfer of wealth from debtors to creditors which is not necessarily healthy. It also encourages hoarding money which can cause job losses.

In the current economic system, widespread lowering of prices is considered to be harmful. So it’s not really possible without major economic reforms. Best solution is to increase wages/income to offset higher prices.

Most seemed completely irrelevant to your claim but one paper showed a projected lethal heat map. It did not show any such heat in Israel/Palestine. This makes sense because west-facing coastal regions are protected from extreme temperatures by marine weather.

This is a very Eurocentric statement. Many other countries in the world actually have more restrictive rules and mores around nudity than the US does.

But personally I think nudity should be protected as part of the human right to free expression.
