A shitty life situation has never stopped anybody from having kids. Quite the opposite, the less educated a society and the lower the prospect of comfort, the more kids people have. Poor and miserable people fuck for fun and don’t care about proper contraceptives, resulting in more kids. Further more, people believe that the more kids you’ll have, the more likely it is that one of them is going to end up rich and successfull.

Streaming sites are usually just the front-end of a content host. The are a number of different domains that all use the same hosts. Banning the streaming sites does absolutely nothing to prevent piracy. Streaming sites rarely host their own content. An example would be the recently banned NSFW streaming domain “Goodporn(dot)to” and it’s subsidiaries, which actually did host their own content. Given that they were arguably the most complete library of illegaly hosted copyrighted western pornography, it kind if made sense to prosecute them specifically.

As long as the actually content provider isn’t prosecuted the streaming sites won’t disappear. Finding a streaming site is essentially as simple as entering 123movies/series/anime/etc. into a search engine and clicking on the first link. The actual content providers like DoodStream, UpCloud, StreamSB, etc. usually operate out of countries where the copyright holder has no jurisdictions.

Yes a business usually consists of people and is driven by profit, you sted the obvious, but what is your point?

Do people buy their vacuums from Dyson Ltd. or from a guy named Kevin?

It’s not just about profits, it’s about accountability. That’s what the different forms of corporations represent. A singular private person can’t and shouldn’t be held accountable for every product the produce. A business is a layer of protection of limited (Ltd.) accountability. How could anybody be motivated to invent or produce anything if a single miss use of your product that causes any harm (intended or not) could lead to you directly being held responsible and possible going to jail. A business on the other hand usually has limited accountability but is also held to a much higher standard of quality and proof than a private individual ever could.

That’s what I’m trying to say. Losing Twitter isn’t a big deal.

Businesses are the ones that produce food, medicine, clothes, build houses, print books, provide gas and electricity, build roads, etc. There are businesses that have outlasted monarchies and democracies. I’m not a corpo schmuck but small businesses are the soul of the soul of our society.

That’s a bad idea because of how reliant small businesses are on social media advertising. A regulation like that would essentially screw over every business that isn’t rich enough to go to bigger advertising venues.

I always kind of judged comment sections quality by their ability to stay on topic. YouTube has been the absolute worst at this for at least the past 15 years. Test it yourself, go unto any YouTube video check the comments. By the second, sometimes even first reply to the top comment it turn into incoherent nonesense. This is not a new phenomenon, this has always been the case.

I wonder how this will affect throphies and achievements. Imagine a conversation where one guy says “Man getting this throphy was so hard, I had to fight a boss and his 5 goons that kept healing themselves and I burned through all my powerups and barely made it” and the other guy is like “I only had to fight the boss and 2 goons and they never healed, I didn’t even know there were powerups.” The first guy is going to be like “YOU WHAT?”

Is the actual problem pulse or blood pressure? According to my Fitbit, my hearth rate fluctuates between ~ 60 - 160 BPM through they day. A short 20 second jog can make it rise above 120 easily. But gaming is different. My pulse usually sits around resting heart rate (because my body is technically at rest) but sometimes when playing Tarkov or DayZ my blood pressure rises to the point that I can feel my own heartbeat in my ears while my pulse remains at resting rate.

If we’re all just killing babies anyway and its hunting season, why don’t we throw them together and make it baby hunting season. Those little fuckers won’t know what hit them.

Steams reviews have a much higher weight in regard to a games success than any other form of review. The new Battlefront games came to Steam way later, when EA Play got introduced and a big chunk of EAs exclusive library moved to Steam. By that point the Battlefront games got all patched up and were somewhat beloved. But a native Steam release like BF2042 was met with harsh criticism, which ultimately let to the game’s failure. There is a reason why AAA studios like Blizzard, EA, Ubisoft or Microsoft prefer not to release their games on Steam and each have their own launchers. The lack of transparency is also why the Epic Games Store is an attractive alternative for publishers. I’d like to think that Steam has the most solid review system one could ask for, something that other launchers are severely lacking. An “overwhelmingly positive” status for a game is an automatic success and everything below “mixed” is nearly a death sentence. Even games that are successfull, like the recent CoD titles start out “negative” or “mixed” on Steam release. But that doesn’t matter anymore, because the publisher already got his money from their own launcher and console releases.

Thats fair. I guess because there is no definitive answer, everybody can have their own interpretation.

This is a question the greatest minds haven’t been able to answer in millennia. Don’t expect an answer in a random lemmy thread. The closest answer to the truth I could give is “we don’t know”.
