I get the feeling this’ll be an unpopular suggestion but I’ve used Ecosia for something like ten years and it’s never failed me. I use Duckduckgo on my Linux laptop because it came bundled and it’s still not worth changing.

That’s why I mention the way I pronounce it myself: I speak Dutch fluently and I know for certain that Hollandish dialects have the same A I have in my mother tongue, but Hollanders are always saying stuff like “epplication”, “bend”, “pen”, etc. etc. so it doesn’t strike me as likely. I do agree though that it’s fatiguing making mouth shapes you’re not used to!

Eh? I didn’t have a problem with it being in slang. You could’ve asked if that was the problem and come off looking more honest.

I don’t think it’s that farfetched to take that as “your shower thought is the story I’ve just mentioned”. In fact it strikes me as more likely than just drawing a comparison even in hindsight and this conversation is about four times longer than it should be.
