It is nobody’s profession to solve problems on social media. In fact, few problems can be solved on social media. Additionally, few professionals are interested in solving problems for free, and in the comments of some random thread on obscure social media. I don’t know what you thought lemmy was but it is effectively reddit for people who don’t want to support reddit.
Same picture, different coping mechanism
Which country would that be? This is EU related.
I don’t disagree with you otherwise. If we had a good age verification system that didn’t involve the website, only gave a boolean age check to the website, wasn’t logged at the government or any other level, I might think this was ok. But we don’t. So as soon as this starts I’ll pirate a bunch of porn.
Honestly I was better afterwards, but I think I’m good on booze for a while
That’s actually awesome
Oh hey I threw up last night. Shnaps sucks.
Like I said in the other comment, the ban isn’t on instigating, it’s on burning a book. Also idgaf about the cross
The ban isn’t on inciting violence, it’s on burning a book.
Burning other people’s books is of course bad. Burning your own books? Idk man, you bought it.
There was an AMA on reddit some time ago with a guy who had been convicted for embezzlement. His imprisonment consisted of effectively living in the prison but otherwise being allowed to leave during the day, go to work, etc. That’s probably the kind of imprisonment you can expect. I’m not saying that’s not bad. I’m just saying, it’s not as bad as you might think. I tried googling it but I can’t find it.
Personally, I disagree with the decision but do understand it. The government just doesn’t want more conflict between people, and it doesn’t care how it gets it. It makes sense ‘mechanically’, but I think it’s a significant blow to freedom of expression. It also adds to the list of reasons why people will vote more right wing in the future, which sucks.
I prefer to read coherent comments
When you join a company early, and there aren’t many other people employed, you make much more of a difference than if you’re one of thousands. You have much more influence in defining the product, steering the direction of the company, defining the workplace culture.
You’re not wrong that employees are replaceable, and the company will replace you if it needs or wants to, but in the beginning, it can very much feel like you’re part of a group of people who are working together to effectively build lives, support their families, interests, etc. The company isn’t just a legal entity that exchanges money for labor, it’s a thing you’re helping build with a kind of community, that you’re investing time into in exchange for the means to a better life.
I’m surprised Kolanaki isn’t here already
Shit, you got me, I have a nespresso machine and use kubuntu
I don’t agree with the commenters in this thread.
An ad is an ad.
I don’t care if they’re for the youtuber’s own stuff. I don’t care what their cut is from youtube premium, they can take that up with youtube. I don’t want to see any ads of any kind if I’m paying for the content. Especially considering how much premium costs.
Disclaimer; I don’t use youtube premium, I use youtube in browsers that allow adblockers, and on android I use firefox with ublock.
Greed and incompetence
