Turns out saying you’re “color blind” is actually quite privileged and ignorant.

I like this image because it’s a great example of how all the colors in a composition affect our perception of each individual color.

For example, if you cover up the parts of dresses that aren’t the same, it will still appear dramatically different because the background colors are so different.

Another example is if you’re working with a palette of grays, adding a very desaturated color, but not totally desaturated, will stick out and look colorful in contrast. That same color would look gray in comparison to a saturated palette. Same color, looks totally different depending on the other colors around it.

Is this real? I feel like some of the details on these things in the pictures look very macro. Like the colored striations on the shell pieces. Super cool if it is, but I’m not so sure…
