The sonic weapon was sonar, I get that they were being dicks and it could have caused harm, but words do matter and saying they used a sonic weapon makes one think of an actual weapon with the intent of being used as a weapon rather than something being used in a dangerous way.

One thing is that it’s something that benefits the rich(er) by taking from the poor. The reasoning is that poorer people die younger, so their funds get to be used by those who live longer. Raising the retirement age has people contribute longer, but the poorer will likely die sooner if not at the same age. The richer/longer lived can take from their contributions.
