  • I hope when I’m old they just decide to let my generation suffer to correct this fundamentally flawed system that will inevitably collapse at some point. It’s based upon the impossible notion of infinite growth.

I totally agree with you about immigration, but I tend to look at the population issue from a world wide perspective. And from that perspective the population goes up every single year without fail, which to me is a major problem that I hope our species will find a way to overcome.

You can give them as obviously as you like. Even hand them the physical card is fine. It’s still fraud if they use it without your explicit permission.

Edit: I misread that you said ‘obviously giving them permission’ part so I think I’m just reinforcing your point.

  • Wrong? I see people deciding not to have kids as fundamentally a good thing. Coercion into having kids due to government pressure or social norms seems a whole lot more wrong to me. It’s ok to not want kids, it’s not some sort of disorder that needs fixing.

I would absolutely love to see the population go down, even for like a single day, within my lifetime. But considering we’ve added over 2 billion people to the population since I was a kid…I don’t have high hopes.

  • When most people talk about companies ‘stealing’ their data, it’s just companies doing what they explicitly stated in the terms and conditions and these people agreed to.

The whole Google incognito mode drama right now is a great example of this. It literally always said ‘incognito will not prevent employers, websites you visit, or your ISP from collecting data’ when opening a incognito tab. So yeah, obviously Google also knows what you are looking up and they never implied otherwise at all.

Edit: A lot of down votes, but no one ever clarified how and when exactly it was that Google was misleading. And if there actually is anyone who was legit surprised by this whole thing, can you please explain to me what you thought incognito mode did exactly?.. And if there isn’t anyone who was surprised, as seems the case so far…that’s sort of my point.

  • I feel you underestimate Saudi Arabia’s ability to be totalitarian. And while the population might disagree with leadership on this issue, it doesn’t mean they disagree on all issues and are about to start a revolution about this one issue.

But, more importantly, Saudi Arabia is the USAs most significant ally in the middle east. Losing access to American made weapons is more worrying to the Saudi Arabian Royal Family than losing the popular support of the domestic population. Because with American weaponry one can easily coerce the domestic population.

I feel those intentions to normalize relations are still there behind closed doors and will play out in the long run.
