We don’t planning to actually work on the go, just planning to travel a lot. eGPU could be considered portable. Maybe we even don’t need a laptop, just a mini PC 🤔

Totally agree, I take this into consideration. Tuxedo is very attractive to me because we planning to visit Germany personally. But I will take a look at NovaCustom as well since it’s in EU.

From Star Labs their StarLite tablet looks very attractive. Right now I considering buying a tablet for drawing and a laptop for 3D modeling instead of 2-in-1.

Agree! That’s why we are looking for something for a manufacturer support. We don’t consider used market only because thinking about something powerful.

I have a SteamDeck and very satisfied with how GNU/Linux runs on it. Windows even run worse on it 😅

Not really, but from my experience Linux on laptops sometimes have issues with things like battery life.

I have a SteamDeck to compare and it works just perfect, this is why I were looking at manufacturer support.

Have you considered using Arch on which Manjaro is based?

This way you won’t have issues with AUR. It’s not hard to install, you can use archinstall helper if you want, it’s available in the default installation media.

I think you can find some jerks in any community, it’s people. But I doubt that GNU/Linux enthusiasts hate people for using Windows in general. I personally a GNU/Linux user and I never hate people for using Windows.

It’s just like Reddit - they have more content, but we prefer Lemmy because of freedom. And we hate Reddit (and spez), not it’s users.

People do criticize Windows itself and I think it’s okay.

It’s good, but you can’t know for sure if you removed all bloatware. Also if you install updates you can easily miss newly added ones.

Windows is like Reddit. There is more content and users, but we use Lemmy for a reason. So I’m not surprised that many people joke about GNU/Linux in this thread. GNU/Linux is not for everyone, but so do Lemmy.

I daily drive GNU/Linux on my Phone (PinePhone Pro), I would say it usable, but Android is way more practical.

Also not a lot of devices can run GNU/Linux and have fully functional HW due to missing drivers. And only 3 phones of them can run mainline kernel.

Waydroid works fine, I use it for banking apps, but it’s a bit slow on my specific device.

Just add rescue to kernel options (if you use GRUB, press e to edit it for the current boot) and it will boot into console from which you can do downgrade.

I never reinstall and always recover. Even when migrating from notebook to PC I just dd-ed it and fixed fstab. My current system is 5 years old :)

You can downgrade packages on arch too via downgrade.
