It looks like the article might be implying that they will be the fastest trains operating in revenue service when they enter service, but that surely needs to be demonstrated with a production train in revenue service.

On underground lines, the PSDs are mostly for air-sealing. It allows you to air-condition the platforms without trying to cool the tunnels, and it helps the piston effect of moving trains pull air through the tunnels, rather than just swirl air around each platform.
Also probably helps for fire engineering.

The Elizabeth line is already built with platform screen doors, although I believe they’re only on underground sections. I don’t know enough about this station to say whether it had them; I expect not.
Platform screen doors tend to be used underground mainly for airflow management. They are not primarily for safety.
They work less well outside. No overhead structure to anchor to, weather has a larger impact (particularly snow/ice), and they can become something to climb rather than an obstacle.
It was an attempt to derail California (and other) High Speed Rail.
Why would you build HSR if there’s something way faster/better/cheaper, you just need to wait 5 years? You’re going to look really dumb if you spend tens of billions on infrastructure intended to last more than a century, and then it’s obsolete before it’s complete.
Similar story with Toyota perpetually claiming to have amazing batteries 3-5 years away, making every EV look like an expensive waste with no resale value.
And a hydrogen economy, small nuclear reactors, or fusion power being 5/10/20 years away, removing the need to invest in transmission and generation.
A major paradigm shift being right around the corner makes people choose short-term solutions, because you want to wait for the new thing to arrive before investing in ‘old tech’.
The problem is most of it is lies, perpetuated by those selling the short-term-fix old tech.
It’s not clear, but I think they were referring to the version 1 Pi - the newer ones are much much much faster.
It’s most likely that it’s related to the original manufacturing. These will be machine wave-soldered, not hand soldered, and having quality vary across the board isn’t impossible if the setup/operators were less than ideal.
Local AdBlock (UBlock Origin) should be fine for anything browser based. It’s really only consoles and smart TVs, where you ‘own’ the hardware but have no control over the software.

Connecting the Pi up to the TV and using it as the player should be an option.
The passenger volume, cost, and build-it-today claims are I think in line with theirs. The only outlier is the energy claim, which is so absurdly false that it falls into puffery (think ‘red bull gives you wings’) and is again believable.
It’s clear HSR costs, and infrastructure in general, are getting out of control in the English-speaking world. It’s not clear how to fix this, but moving from proven and understood technology to Muppet technology doesn’t seem to be a good option.

Being an SUV, it’ll weigh 50% more than necessary. That outweighs almost any other sustainability considerations.
This is why it’s important to operate with enough available reserves (fast and slow) to cover the unexpected loss of your biggest generator, transformer, and/or transmission line.
Their black start procedures are going to be getting a good workout; I hope they’re well tested.
