Duolingo is one hell of a spammy application. I uninstalled it just because it was so noisy.
And yet the Deck uses Arch…
You can also enable the easy list for cookies in uBlock Origin. It misses some but for the most part it works.
I’m a VMware and Windows admin in my work life. I don’t have extensive knowledge of Linux but I have been running Raspberry Pis at home. I can’t remember why but I started to migrate away from installed applications to docker. It simplifies the process should I need to reload the OS or even migrate to a new Pi. I use a single docker-compose file that I just need to copy to the new Pi and then run to get my apps back up and running.
linuxserver.io make some good images and have example configs for docker-compose
If you want to have a play just install something basic, like Pihole.
I hate reading the Americans now typing “y’all”.
My wife changed her Windows work laptop last week. Her Desktop is synced to OneDrive so really she just needs to login. Despite that she was panicking that her PDF’s were gone. They weren’t, it’s just that the new laptop has a newer version of Adobe Reader which uses an updated icon.
Some people are just tech illiterate and the slightest difference can be upsetting. My mum’s the same with her phone. Using Google Maps to navigate is an achievement for her and I’ve been telling her to use it for years. The first time she did she reached her destination literally shaking. She was also amazed with herself that she had done it.
We’re in our 40’s, so not old enough for typewriters. I do remember my dad had one at his workplace though!
Like my wife who uses Caps Lock to create capital letters. I’ve told her to use shift but she’s too far gone.
Hah, yes!
They no longer appear for me. The biggest change for me was just using uBlock Origin. Previously I also had Ghostery. If you run multiple extensions for privacy, try dropping them and only using uBlock.
As a kid, I remember when the schools used to have that paper that literally was paper and on one side being shiny. Shit used to literally smear on the shiny side. I don’t think it actually exists anymore.

That’s always been my argument. Updates for the OS or even apps in Google Play should be presented immediately if the user is doing a manual check for updates. Sure, continue the staged rollouts, but only for those who are updating automatically.
The check for updates button has been working fine for a few years now but as of this month my Pixel 8 is still on the November patch. My wife’s Pixel 6 is on the December patch after I did a manual check on her phone. Frustrating.
If they do that people won’t turn it on. They rely on people to not read things.
I wish someone (EU) would step in and force companies to make data collection settings be opt in rather than opt out.
Samsung loves bloat. Their attempt at creating an ecosystem and therefore lock in to keep using their devices. I like Samsung hardware but their software is shit.
What happened to the ad blocker detection thing a month ago. Did Google remove it or does uBlock Origin have a permanent workaround now rather than needing to clear cache and reload?
Me either. Not that I’m advocating this BS practice!
I read on the Jellyfin site that the Pi5 has no hardware encoders…
https://jellyfin.org/docs/general/administration/hardware-acceleration
Since I’m only streaming locally (on a Pi4) I don’t need to record anything but still.
