  • I agree that Honey is a sleazy extension, but should I be worried that if they lose, it will set a bad precedent? From the video, the Honey extension works by injecting a Honey referral code into all online shopping transactions, possibly overwriting whatever influencer referral code the user was under. If Honey loses, the court decision is likely to say that an extension creator is liable if they tamper with referral codes and tracking links.

This will be a problem for privacy extensions that strip out tracking cookies and referral URLs, since they are also messing with influencer attribution, though not for profit but at the request of the user.

  • As an older fan, because historically, dubs were utter crap. Until about 20 years ago, only kids anime got dubbed and when it was that version would be edited and censored. Some companies would also put out a parallel uncensored release and if one was available, it would be subs only.

Even when you started to get older teen anime dubbed, the voice casting tended to be pretty bad.

  • Assuming you merge instances, how would moderation work, especially if mods cannot agree on rules or interpretations? What about instance specific rules? Would a post be moderated by whatever instance the OP posted from?

If the mods have to agree on rules, you have the same exact asshole mod problem but now with extra name squatting.

  • Ideally, the user should search for “books” communities and the top result should be the largest/most active community. If they don’t like that community, they can try the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th result to see if they are better. Unfortunately, the Lemmy sort algorithm needs a lot of work.
