  • $300 for the most important piece of software on the hardware that you interact with every day, sometimes all day, for years? That’s a steal.

And again, as an OS, Windows just works and Linux doesn’t. Even if you wanted to set things manually in the registry to disable the bad consumer “features”, you’d still spend less time than configuring a standard Linux install and it would be more stable.

It’s like Apple fan bois nowadays. Ridiculous.

  • Or… Read what I said. Spend the $300 on the enterprise license. No ads. No forced notifications. A single computer with multiple users at one time in a home environment is not a use case that would get any thought. Those that want it, can do it. And it’s easy, and free. Hyper-V is free and the licenses for the virtual machines are free too because the container host is windows. Lock an instance per output and voila. Recall won’t be coming to enterprise or server and if it does, it will be disablable. Just like forced updates are disabled in enterprise. Forced reboots disabled. Etc.

If you want that experience you buy that experience.

  • No. It really isn’t.

Windows with the proper license and configuration is more stable, more productive, and that configuration takes less than an hour once for the life of the machine.

In 2024 if you’re still bashing Windows for BSODs, stability, updates, etc, you’re doing it wrong. You can bash all day long for privacy violations and corporate greed but both of those are fixed with the proper version like Windows Enterprise. Costs more, but you are less of the product.

  • You know what sucks? Getting your VPS shut off or account suspended. All your data gone in an instant, not recoverable. You don’t have access to the metal, and the metal no longer has access to you.

Hetzner is known for randomly boinking accounts. You update billing info? Whoops maybe shutoff. You login via a VPN, account disabled. Just randomly for no reason, account locked and VPS down.

You have basically zero recourse. Their support staff suck and the immediate reaction is suspend and delete. NEVER use them for anything you don’t consider temporary.

  • The evidence clearly shows Americans have maxed out their cards and are riding debt while buying only essentials. That’s not good. That’s ignorance of impending doom.

It’s also NOT good for anyone who hasn’t got a new job in the past couple years. If everything around you is 20% more expensive and you’ve received a 3% raise, things are very bad for you.

It is very good currently for those with 401ks and can leverage, use, or sell the gains they are getting.

  • It’s a pretty old grift to take a word and weaponize it just because the word has power already. Most people are stupid and it plays right into what they want to hear. They have no idea what the definitions are, nor do they care.

The left have been calling them “low information voters”… Just call them what they are. Idiots that have the same voting power as everyone else. And no critical thinking skills to understand the world around them being shaped by their own actions.

An uneducated populace deserves a fallen empire and that’s exactly what they’re going to get.

  • For anyone that still doesn’t know, this is already a thing for all US made (owned) hardware. Has been for 15 years+. This is expanding it to everything that would be sold on the market. You know phones are hotspots too… That’s right.

You know why the US is so against Huawei? Because they CANT spy on every packet like they can with a Cisco, Juniper, Ruckus, etc switch. And when those start to be installed in scale, it’s a problem for the intelligence collection. This is just a small change to make what’s already there more palatable in stages. So that in another decade when things become declassified fully and more publisized, Americans don’t believe it is an issue.

  • So now she’s not crooked? Just an ordinary vanilla politician? Because yes. She is a vanilla boring politician. She is not corrupt like a Trump. She is not idiotic like a Dubya. She’s not a criminal like the majority of the cabinet positions from the 2016-2020 era of dystopia.

But being a money hungry politician running for political office in an oligarchy. And since Citizens United, the US is one of the most corrupt oligarchies on the planet. It takes money to play and she knows what she has to do to get money to run and win a non-rigged election for even the highest office while giving some energy back to supporters way down the line that voted for her. This is American politics. And it’s disgusting.

  • Nothing to do with being fat. Some people have zero idea how a shower works. You need to put the liner IN the tub area and the decorative curtain outside the tub. Many people push them both outside the tub. Now all the water that splashes around hits the liner and drains right onto the floor and not into the tub.

The amount of water splashing makes no difference if you’re big or small. Pressurized water hitting you is going to bounce all over. Since you’re taking a shower, that’s the goal.

If I had to guess, the curtain is wrong, he has no idea because nobody has ever told him and the bathroom is terribly non water tight so splashing will go down through the floor. Even tile is not waterproof nor is grout.

It’s why I always specify a waterproof membrane and floor drain but it’s not common in US/Canada yet.
