Without context this is my favorite kind of comment, because I immediately thought of an anthropomorphic asshole sitting down to a nice dinner of steaming hot shit and it was hilarious.

But then I remembered Trump has a realistic shot at winning this election and I just got really sad.

Kind of a nice change of pace to see a closeted homophobe be a woman this time.

While it’s good to be skeptical, algae tanks like this are actually a good idea for the use-cases for which they are designed. Places where trees would be difficult and expensive to grow. The tanks more efficiently capture carbon, require less maintenance, produce fertilizer as a byproduct and the solar panels on the tank produce enough extra power for there to be a USB charger on the bench. The goal isn’t to replace trees with tanks but to use them where it makes sense to do so.

I really kind of hate this line of thinking since it implies that gay people are persecuting themselves. Most homophobes are straight, this guy is just a garden-variety christian fascist.

He is also the most viciously antigay congressman as former lead counsel and spokesman for the Alliance Defending Freedom, a Christian extremist legal group.

Right, my thought is that the apology would be in lieu of going to jail for contempt, so he isn’t being forced to apologize, he violated a court order and is being punished, he could then choose to forgo punishment by apologizing.

I think there is precedent for apologizing as an alternative to punishment, but I’m no expert so you may well be correct.

Here’s what I would do: Trump is ordered to write a formal apology letter to the clerk in which he disavows the spurious claims outlaid in his post, he must record himself reading the letter and post it to his website for at least 2 months. Or he can go to jail for contempt of court.

This way he either does something he definitely does not want to do (admit fault) or go to jail and because he ‘holds the keys to his cell’ so to speak, his claims of being wrongfully imprisoned would be hollow.
