Have you ever considered that the Prime Directive is not only not ethical, but also illogical, and perhaps morally indefensible?

I had a ball doing that. And I mean, again, during the “Star Trek” world, it’s lovely people, and it was nothing but pleasure, and it was a dream wish fulfillment for me to be able to be in “Star Trek.” I play a very interesting, complicated guy, bad guy, I suppose. I’m a bad guy. Yeah, I guess I’m a bad guy. But yeah, so I dunno what more I can say about that without giving too much away.
I’m in more than one episode. I have a little arc through this season. I reappear and become more problematic as the show goes on.

They were given a short amount of time (3 days IIRC) to film the epilogue, and by then most of the sets had been dismantled.

…which is an absolutely insane debate. No one tries to argue that the PD doesn’t apply to the Romulans, even though they’re not native to their world.
Colony planets aren’t considered “fair game” for interference.
Value Subtracted@startrek.websiteMto Star Trek Social Club@startrek.website•Are there any Trek episodes where they enforce the Prime Directive to protect a developing world within Federation space from an external influence?English6·13 days agoThe Prime Directive is that the Federation won’t interfere with the development of a pre-warp society.
While warp capability (or a rough equivalent) is the prerequisite for first contact, the Prime Directive is broader, forbidding intervention in the internal affairs of any non-Federation civilization.

Value Subtracted@startrek.websiteto Daystrom Institute@startrek.website•Why did they revive Nova squadron in the 2380s?English3·14 days agoI don’t know much about military training, but I do know that grouping students into “squadrons” is done today - I don’t know that the grouping is based on anything, but it makes a certain kind of sense that Starfleet would embrace a kind of “meritocracy” approach to it, even if it also comes off as elitist.
Perhaps Nova Squadron is a long-held academy tradition, and despite the initial fallout of the 2368 incident, that’s overshadowed by its long history of outstanding cadets, a legacy the academy didn’t want to suddenly erase.
I think this is likely. Scandals come and go, but they often don’t overpower institutional inertia.
