Maybe it depends on the urinal? In the US I have seen urinals that basically reach from the floor to your waist, which I imagine involves some splashing. Here in Europe I’ve only seen the ones that are way smaller, around waist height.

Agreed, although I’d posit that we were able to get the strong social safety thanks in large part to the multi-party democracy. But otherwise, yes, agreed on all counts.

In the EU, but my point is that the scale is way different. I’m in the Netherlands, and the far-right resurgence here is still being kept in check to some extent by the other parties. I shudder to think what would happen if they could do what they want just because they’re the largest, but they can’t.

I’m from a multi-party democracy, and while the ultra-rich (or, well, mega-rich I suppose - the US’s ultra-rich are at a different level I think) certainly have their interests catered to, I feel like on balance the scales are tipped to their benefit to a way smaller extent, largely thanks to the multi-party system.

Knowing basically nothing about anything that’s relevant here, so pardon any ignorance, but it does sound to me like anything that moves the US towards a true multi-party system would be a pretty fundamental change?

E-reader sounds like good advice though, unless they really need colour (e.g. are planning to mainly read comics). MEGA sync probably won’t work, but Pocket might be good enough?

Kobo’s are basically Linux, and have quite a few customisation options.

Oh actually, looking at the Ubuntu installation docs, that doesn’t really seem to be much easier - that’s a disappointment :/

Although if you don’t mind running one terminal command (specifically, sudo add-apt-repository ppa:mozillacorp/mozillavpn), I think after that you should just be able to use the Ubuntu App Center to install software - which usually is the way to install software in Ubuntu, and works similar to app stores on phones.

Also note that Mullvad has a pretty technical user base and target audience, and thus their documentation is likely geared towards them. You could also consider using Mozilla VPN, which offers pretty much the same advantages (they use Mullvad’s servers), at the same price if you pay annually, and is easier to use.

When I was a kid, things were pretty much the same! Y’all are doing roughly what I would do! Life was pretty OK back then! You kids have similar things to deal with! And everything nowadays looks to be about as challenging as what we used to have! Life was quite OK back then! But you kids have experienced a similar quality of life!
