  • I think a significant subset of Americans have been waiting on real help from the government for so long that they’re just ready to let it all burn down because they simply don’t have the education to know how bad that really will be.

Are we just waiting for the capitalists to throw their hands up and relinquish control back to the people??? What alternate mandela dimension did I just teleport to? Hopefully febreeze is still spelled with two e’s. But don’t get me wrong, I would love to live in a place where naivety solves problems - but I just don’t believe I live in that place. So regardless of the damage, regardless of the harm, regardless of the rationale or logic of more “sensible” people:

You just let me know when you’re done voting for your best hope, Joe fucking Biden. I’ll be with the crowd ready to rip the fucking bandaid off.

  • I mean you’re not wrong, but without separating the single motor to one at each wheel, you’d still have to translate the power from one point to each wheel. The uni bearing doesn’t provide that benefit. Separate motors DOES. And tuned and articulating short shafts are not a new thing. So even without this new bearing as long as you had separate motors for each wheel all you would have is a short CV shaft between the motor and the wheel. Hell why not save all of the space and just incorporate the motor into the hub??? Since BDC motors are more efficient when wider and smaller, it would be very easy to fit them within current day hubs.

I mean, don’t get me wrong, I honk for planetary gear designs every time. So I’m not knocking this design. It’s simple, machinable, and direct. It’s brilliant for what it is. It’s just not the space saver that they are touting it to be. The video literally showed two seats side by side with a bed in the back. Unless kia started making a suburban, I’m just not that naive.

  • Oh yes, I’ve been using the ansible method of deploying and I have it very close, I just can’t get SMTP working. I’ve set up an account with send grid but letsencrypt keeps telling me I’ve passed the limit for certs and every time I try to deploy it says I have to wait another week to try. I would remove certs but since I’ve already wiped those out, I don’t know what they are or how to find them.

Self hosting, at least for lemmy, is absolute trash. I have been told a few times when asking questions that, “it is expected that you are thoroughly experienced with Linux” to be able to follow the mediocre guides. And they are trash if you are a newbie.

So people like me, who would love to use Lemmy for non Linux things, am posting almost entirely about Linux problems.
