Almost like different countries are unique with unique people, places and problems… but that seems to be a nuanced idea so you’d probably reject it

I think lacking self awareness is a requirement to be a tankie
And people love the no true Scotsman fallacy and constantly throw out that the person isn’t really this or that

I drove from western Washington to Illinois two years back, with hot pink hair, and I had to cover my hair in Montana because I genuinely felt unsafe, I’m not trans, just a cis woman with pink hair and even that got me all sorts of nasty stares and comments. There’s a strong live and let live culture too, but you’re right, it’s being actively strangled out at this point.
I drove through the same area again just last week, but only to Boulder and back, with my natural brown hair and had a significantly more friendly visit… jokes on them I’m SO much more left now that I was two years ago despite the signs

You do realize that good is not the enemy of great right? That moving in the right direction is a good thing… it’s this all or nothing mentality that leaves us paralyzed and ineffective

Like we are getting another fair election again, but I do wonder how they will keep claiming the left the longer they are in power, it’s a crutch they lean on so heavily, maybe it will just be citizens who are left leaning who are causing it. The right cannot function with out a boogie man

You’ll take what you get or starve in the streets. It’s disingenuous to act like “factory work” will resemble the good factory jobs that currently exist.
Zenith@lemm.eeto politics @lemmy.world•U.S. Secretary of Commerce says the ‘new model’ is factory jobs for life—for you, your kids, and your grandkids2·2 days agoConsidering they’re working on getting rid of lunch or bathroom breaks this is just a fantasy… is it possible to have decent factory jobs? Sure. Will that be what’s given to you as an option? Absolutely not
This must be prevented from happening, once it becomes the institutional norm it will be so difficult to reverse course
Zenith@lemm.eeto politics @lemmy.world•U.S. Secretary of Commerce says the ‘new model’ is factory jobs for life—for you, your kids, and your grandkids16·2 days agoThat’s the thing, they don’t care if you work there, they won’t make you, you’ll just starve to death in the street or die from lack of medical care or some previously preventable problem. You likely would never be forced to work but not working will be essentially choosing slow suicide
Culture, in MY politics?? No, no, I need to pretend all people are the same and want the same things I do, if I have the context of culture 🤢 I might have to consider people have valid perspectives I don’t share!! /s if we do that here
