Punch nazis, trebuchet TERFs.
I am building Voyager, a web client for lemmy!
Part of the reason why you don’t lose your license for killing someone with a car in the US is because it’s much more of a ‘punishment’ because of how car dependent the US is.
Also, keep in mind a lot of trips are 3 miles or less in the US, and most drive it, despite wanting alternatives to driving.
If someone is trying to get from A to B in a 2 mile trip and the government basically mandates people to drive that, can you really blame them if they end up killing someone accidentally? What if they accidentally kill themselves smashing into a tree? You might assign some of the blame to their driving, but would that solve anything in the long term? a large part of the blame should be assigned to this insane transportation system we’ve built where everyone needs to drive 2 miles to pick up a bag of milk.
TLDR prevention, not blame will reduce traffic violence.
I use auto hide posts (voyager) otherwise the stale posts would drive me nuts
Oh this is so fucking typical. “EV” or electric vehicles never means e-bikes when it would benefit e-bikes (for example, EV subsidies = electric car subsidies) but when it conveniently makes electric cars look better, oh look an e-bike is an EV! 😒
Voyager will get this feature in the next few days!
Wait what that’s a thing
Sure it can. A large vehicle is more likely to kill someone outside of the car. So, by unnecessarily choosing to purchase a large vehicle, you are needlessly increasing the chance of killing someone else.
Not to mention the climate impacts.
To be clear, the fact that you want a pick up truck can’t be debated, but whether you should be allowed to purchase one and use it on a public roadway, solely because of your desire to have one- is another thing.
Report -> I’m in this picture and I don’t like it
…aaand it’s gone
It’s only available if you are using the native app. The PWA doesn’t have that option due to web limitations unfortunately.
Thanks for your hard work!
we would like to know from developers of Lemmy clients and frontends if their projects are ready for 0.19
Voyager is ready :)
The latest Voyager also allows you to customize when the long swipe trigger point is now! Settings -> Gestures -> Long Swipe Trigger Point
You can customize Voyager to open links in default browser not in-app: Settings -> General -> Open Links in
If you have a few bucks, Kagi search is awesome and you can customize domain rankings.
Do you have a ton of subscriptions? So even pressing the back button takes a while? I can optimize this
Yes! Turn off automatic updates for the Voyager app in Play Store. Then just update the Voyager app like normal through F-droid (F-droid should automatically recognize Voyager is installed)
Actually, Voyager has reproducible builds enabled. This means F-droid distributes the app with the same key that is used for everywhere else Voyager is distributed (Github releases, Play store).
So if you want to migrate from Play Store to F-droid, turn off automatic updates for Voyager in Play Store and update the app with F-droid :)
Well, yeah, just look at the latest Google Maps update. The new maps layer overemphasizes highways with high contrast. Even places like Amsterdam. Doesn’t matter zoom level. If you are not getting around by a car, everything is low contrast shit.
