Like Lemmy or any social media really, you get out what you put in. If you just follow the generic feed without following anyone, yeah it’s going to suck.
You can make lists, so one for your friends, one for news, one for a hobby. Or you can filter hash tags to really narrow in on a topic. People also make “starter packs” of who to follow for any topic you can think of.
This format is also unbeatable for breaking events.

Well said! I agree with almost everything, except I still want algorithms. I think I’d say “free from algorithms that serve corporate interests” instead. Algorithms that help me find content I genuinely enjoy are sorely missed.

Nowhere does it say every member of the population needs to be murdered. And Israel is very clearly checking the first three boxes at the very least.
This has much broader consequences than just France. Imagine if France succeeded in passing this, and browsers had to implement capabilities for government mandated blocklists.

The actual installation is easy, the finding equivalents for your years of accumulated workflow is the part that isn’t.
I just spent 4 hours trying various window managers and shell extensions to replicate what I had with fancy zones in Windows. Finally came close with the gTile gnome shell extension, but it’s still not quite what I had.

Better to implement true UBI. Give it to everyone, and afford more security to folks who want to focus on art.
