I have seen this episode.
That is EXACTLY why I don’t understand why someone wouldn’t just use an NPM package that already has all that stuff sorted out. Could you imagine trying to code to deal with different time zones?
Forget about it.

I mean wouldn’t any sensible developer just use one of the many npm packages that do count down from UTC?
Which would also be using JavaScript?
Sorry I don’t mean to quibble it’s just that imo JavaScript has nothing to do with this faulty countdown, it has to do with the developer overlooking edge cases.
Thankfully, it seems like places like the EU and now Japan are considering ALL use cases, not just the majority of them.
What an interesting read!
Thank you so much. Interesting to hear about Stoker’s widow, and her going to the courts to pursue a copyright claim.
Can’t deny swag when u see it
Hey this is a pretty interesting story, got a link?
The fact that VS code runs on JavaScript is its strength not its weakness.
But you do you, like I said.
Edit: to the other person, whom I realized is just joking
My point stands, I guess?
Just use VSCode ffs.
Also, yes I endorse VSCode wholeheartedly but do whatever works for you.
Notepad++ is fine for the vast majority of people.
I wouldn’t say non-factual.
I would just say that rule isn’t universal. My company is moving assets into a cloud hosting service. And right now, AD are 100% needed for those assets to have authorization.
It was a different authorization solution on premises.
So basically, the opposite of what he was saying in my particular situation. Of course I can’t speak to all companies.
I really want to respond to your comment and go in more depth as to how my work situation is with AD groups etc etc
I just don’t want to be careless and speak more about the particular infrastructure of my company’s workflow than I need to
Suffice to say, we are continuing to move assets to a cloud hosting service. Due to our unique solution, we still require AD groups.
Funny enough, we need the AD groups for the cloud assets to run as expected. It’s a different kind of authorization on-prem
I literally create AD groups as a small part of my job
Obviously, I can’t go into any more details just in case. Yes, certainly Linux is King of the server world.
But your information is not up to date. We’re not going to Azure anytime soon. Congratulations, you are making broad sweeping claims that just don’t hold up to the least amount of investigation.
A doctor is anybody with a doctorate.
Somehow, colloquially, we came to only refer to MD’s ( Doctor of Medicine ) as doctors.
A PhD is just a Doctor of Philosophy. A PhD doesn’t make anyone a doctor more so than an MD or a JD. Yes, even a lawyer is a doctor.
Anybody with a doctorate degree is a doctor. And just for fun, all a doctorate means is the highest degree awarded by a graduate school or other approved educational organization. Feel like I’m getting too technical with this so I’m just going to stop writing this comment.
Yes, 100%.
I really can’t tell if you’re being serious. Just in case…
The prophet Muhammad was a real piece of shit etc etc etc.
See? I’m allowed to do that. Thankfully I live somewhere I don’t have to be in fear of saying things like that.
I have and it’s great.
Also, unlike a lot of people I just delete vast swathes of my tabs from time to time.
Let’s be honest, you didn’t need it and I didn’t need it.
But I’m still gad I can go back to a random tab from a week ago from a session I had closed out of
Yes my wording was terrible. you’re right that it’s the millions of other things constantly polluting that’s the problem.
My point was just that her tour is one of the largest ever. Largest ever also means one of the most polluting ever.
As I replied to other people, yes the wording was poor.
But, it’s so silly to compare her fleet of semi trucks to all the semi trucks in the world. I mean wouldn’t it make a bit more sense to compare her to other touring acts? Was just reading an article yesterday about how hers is one of the largest and most expensive tours ever.
fwiw I used to live in India many years ago.
Was lucky enough to emigrate to the states when I was eight years old. We didn’t have a car back then. My dad had a moped that we used a lot.
But yeah, I didn’t use to be part of the problem. But now I am as well
I already mentioned I was wrong about the air travel. I looked up the numbers and edited my comment immediately.
Yeah the trucks are a drop in the sea as well.
But stop kidding yourself that the 90 semi trucks is nothing. It’s all pollution.
What other tour and/or concert is slipping around 90 semi trucks??
You bring up a good point that there are millions of semi trucks on the road. But that’s ridiculous to compare her 90 semi trucks to all the trucks on the road
Let’s compare her to other touring artists. To be honest I don’t have the numbers off top of my head I’ll have to look him up. But I was reading an article the other day about how her tour is one of the largest productions to date.
So no, her 90 trucks are not a huge part of the problem. That wording was wrong on my part. But among touring artist, she is easily one of the biggest polluters.
Quoting Taylor Swift is… an interesting choice when talking about climate changes.
Didn’t her recent tour require 90+ semi trucks just to go from city to city? Not even going to mention all the emissions that result from whenever they have to travel by plane.
Yes, popular music acts that tour are a HUGE part of the problem.
Also, my bad I’m not tryna harp on you just because I recognized a song lyric. I’m a Taylor Swift fan myself. Well, more of a chiefs fan. And by value of the transitive property…
Edit: also apparently all air travel only accounts for about 2% of emissions. So while my point isnt technically wrong it’s missing the forest for the trees
I think I’m just trying to convince myself…
But it’s not over yet. Lots of votes to be counted still
