If kids are dumb today, millennials are on the hook for it, boomers didn’t do this one.
The bulk of older teenagers/college kids are from Gen X, not so much from millennials.

We’re just now doing phased roll outs of 23H2 at work, so haven’t paid any attention to 24H2. What issues is it having that you’ve noticed?
What? How is him trying to help millions of workers a bad thing?
True enough, but toxic toys aren’t super common in the US. It certainly happens, but they eventually get detected and recalled. That being said, with Trump’s plans for gutting regulatory bodies even further, I’ll be much less inclined to order cheap toys from online.
Yeah, wtf? I thought they were sanctioned to the extent that it made it so most US/EU companies literally couldn’t continue doing business with Russia?
Tons of people. My wife bought a $7 digital camera off of there for one of our kids and 2 years later, both of our kids still love playing with it and it works perfectly fine. We’ve bought a couple of other toys off of there without issue. But yeah, the majority of the products on there are typically garbage.
You are correct, I meant it as the government as your ISP. I have no qualms with cities or governments paying to have the backbone created and then a utility-like organization/company not directly controlled by the government coming in and running an ISP.
I actually know tons of coworkers that have consistently told me to sign up for this program. I know for a fact they are not in the poverty band. They also had broadband before they applied. I never even attempted to apply, because it seems like a shitty thing to do as it does give these assholes ammunition to axe a program that really is helping legitimate poor folks out.
Regardless, ~$600 million is fucking pennies to the federal government, it’s beyond insane for them to be so concerned about such a miniscule amount of the annual budget. Just tighten the credit check process on applying and the problem of people who aren’t in poverty getting free money goes away. The GOP just wants to make poor people/women/anyone different than them suffer, fuck their nonsense.
As for school vouchers… I need to get to sleep and that rant will get my blood pressure too elevated.
No way, you do not want the federal or even a state government directly controlling your internet access, especially in the times we live in now.
I hate to break it to you, but teenagers have been circumnavigating around any law the government throws at them since the beginning of time.
This law is particularly ridiculous and poorly thought out. It is easily bypassed and only has potential downsides. It is ripe for abuse and it’s insane anyone supports this level of privacy intrusion.
I thought Moore’s law was only for CPUs/chip density?
Nice, I’ll check out his channel!
Oh wow, that’s some good news! Hopefully it hits the US and EU markets soon.
I was tracking that sodium-ion was only viable for larger applications (e.g. building backup, possibly EVs the size of buses), is that no longer the case?
Mining/extraction of lithium is extremely destructive to the environment. This article gives a general overview of our predicament with having such a strong dependency on lithium for batteries: https://news.climate.columbia.edu/2023/01/18/the-paradox-of-lithium/
https://news.climate.columbia.edu/2021/06/09/stop-calling-green-energy-clean/ goes into more depth with how much pollution mining/extracting lithium generates.
I don’t see it discussed nearly enough that finding an alternative to lithium should be among the top priorities in research.
China’s spying apparatus is on a whole other level. They’ve been using AI for years to “turbocharge” their domestic surveillance state; now they’re trying to take that capability global–with quite some initial success.
As a side note, I don’t understand why so many folks aren’t worried about another superpower replacing the US’s slowly waning stranglehold. Look at all the fucked up shit the US has done around the world, and that’s with a quasi-democratic government that at least has a modicum of domestic and international accountability. Now replace that with a totalitarian regime that virtually answers to no one. I mean, this is the same regime that has committed a genocide within just the last decade. Can you imagine what they’ll be capable of when they’re the main powerbroker that has no peers?
And no, this is not me wanting the US empire to remain in place. I’d prefer a transparent, egalitarian governing system across the globe.
I like how this is just the normal range of widely used languages.
If that was the case, why isn’t every industrial farm doing it?
It depends on what you mean by efficient. Cost efficiency wise, normal land farming beats out hydroponics by a mile. And really, cost efficiency is one of the top things to consider when it comes to farming on a massive scale.
TIL the etymology of goodbye is a contraction of “god be with you.”
