For teens it almost certainly was. The “no phone policy” of many American high schools was implemented long before the iPhone. And yeah, texts may have been 10c each but that wasn’t your 10c ;)
not the country or the triangle :)

Is this the same Tesla plant that has no caution stripes because Elon hates yellow and black? Or the one that violated EPA regulations? Not surprised in the slightest
Not a lawyer but it’s amazing that what looks to be an attorney for Virginia is working so hard to dismantle freedom of the press, a foundation of US law (yes I know it’s not part of international laws in other countries but it’s still incredibly ironic)
Not in your backyard huh?
I live in Washington State, home of Amazon, and id wager more here hate bezos than anybody else on this list
Snapchat and Instagram are in a traffic jam for third place, with the ephemeral messaging app used by 60% of respondents and opened every day by 58%.
Interesting. When I was in high school 6 years ago everybody had snapchat, and most people had instagram. And I mean everybody. Everybody I knew had me as a friend on snapchat and your clique was whose snapchat group chat you were in.
Then they can just say that.
See, my issue (not the person you’re talking to but the person who sparked this conversation) was with the original commenters generalization.
I get you. I really do. But when you get rid of all the fluff and just say “people laugh at you, you’re hurt, you’re fragile,” it has implications that go way beyond Elon Musk. That’s the issue. If they had bothered to specify the stuff you did then maybe I wouldn’t be upset by it, but they deliberately chose not to. Just like the people you don’t like deliberately chose to buy that car.
Sorry that may sound mean, but for me that’s the definition of beeing fragile.
Apologizing before you say something doesn’t suddenly negate the mean-ness of it. You’re still an asshole.
it sucks when people are mean to you though? I’ve had cars full of teens laughing at me for being overweight and I honestly cried afterwards. I don’t think it makes me fragile for that. I feel like we should normalize being hurt by these kinda things and growing for it, rather than just further insulting.
it feels like you just used that as a chance to shit on people you don’t like. I don’t like the wealthy either, but that doesn’t give me a free pass to act like a douchebag.
edit: I am NOT saying that anybody who buys this garbage human’s products has a free pass either. But what YOU WROTE is an absurd hyper generalization. There’s really no way for anybody to know whether you mean this specific car or whether you saw it and CHOSE to extrapolate into something else you hate. So, if you wanted to come across as less like a douchebag then maybe either be more specific or don’t be a garbage person.

I just started a flame war
Okay so I don’t need you in my feed then. Blocked. Hope more follow suit
It’s a bit of an exaggeration but I’m glad that of the many things I said, that was what you took away. Very insightful commentary.
Really as a technical user I’m moreso afraid of how much time and how much work it’ll cost me. And I know a lot of distros are 1 click installs. That doesn’t matter to me. It’s more the transferring files and getting things set up and settling in again. I’m already settled in on my windows 10 computer. Everything is where it needs to be. I changed to Firefox earlier this month and just that was mentally painful. I can’t imagine the whole OS.
I’m in university too so this would be a day that I could be doing homework etc
I don’t have a VPN and I got this error too. It resolved itself after about an hour
god I hate wikipedia abuse. It even happens from non admins. There’s this one movie I watched and I realized that it wasn’t on the lead actor’s filmography so I added it, and within minutes it was removed without reason. I go on this guy’s talk profile and it’s full of people claiming that they religiously remove edits on a number of random articles. Probably 80% of edits in the past year alone on that filmography page were from this one guy and almost all of them were removing tiny contributions from other users. Some people just like to act like an article is “theirs”
pot calling the kettle black are we
(I just googled this phrase since to be honest I didn’t know its origins and I really prefer the 1639 version “Pot calling the pan burnt-arsed” now)
That 6.7 L engine agrees, spitting and snarling, almost stalling as the automated seven-speed transmission lurches through traffic. I switch the recalcitrant gearbox over to M, hoping the temper tantrum will smooth out higher in the rev range as I purposefully pop through gears using the column-mounted paddle shifters (which also make the Aventador’s turn signal stalks nearly impossible to use). And those turn signals come in handy—as the crowd of Italian drivers inching along all around me might be surprised to learn—since I have absolutely zero visibility to either side, nor out of the louvered rear window.
dear author, this is ars technica, not the french dispatch
I searched for “counter strike surf” and the first result was about the origin of the idiom “with all the bells and whistles.”
Much search engine.
