I like how for different people it can be the beginning OR the end of that ID that tips them off.

That’s fair. This being the Fediverse, private messages aren’t private either, so protect yourself!
I reckon they might be using a lot of Windows specific libraries, making any porting a real pain in the ass. And when you’re in that space, unfortunately people just have to choose the OS that goes with their applications, not the other way around.
It’s literally easier to start an entirely new CAD/CAM project and make that cross-platform. Unfortunately, that’s a 7 or 8 figure proposition to get started as well (probably 8 for a polished product that can pull proper market share).
What software is that? Is it something with a really heavy desktop client by nature (e.g CAD, video editing), or could it instead have a browser-based frontend?
Now I wish you’d tell us what the company is so if I ever need anything in that industry, I’d know where to buy from.
Easiest is to just create an account with fake info. They don’t do any KYC for regular users AFAIK.
force them to settle and end this.
How do you intend to force another country to settle? By helping Russia win the war?
The feels like temp at these temps should be above the actual temp as soon as there’s a brisk wind tbh.
OP is the original OP. Probably. Reddit poster’s name is the same as the Lemmy poster’s name.
Yeah but then he’ll say “my spoon is too big!”
If it was worth stressing about, it was worth discussing with me when I was on the clock.
If your users suddenly start getting errors in prod at 6 PM, that wasn’t something that anyone would’ve known 2 hours earlier when you were still at work, but it affects business nonetheless.
However, a company of any real size should have employees who get paid to be on call to deal with ongoing issues. In the example of the software industry, this would be site reliability engineers who take part of an on call rotation.
But if you’re a max 20 person startup? You bet your ass that your average software engineer can expect a phone call.
So what I’m saying is that nuance is a thing. Working for a large corporation, or just in a job where nothing you do can be super urgent? Literally ignore your boss. Working in a small company where you taking that phone call has an actual impact on the company’s near-term financial performance or reputation? Might be worth reconsidering your stance, but probably not if your boss is an asshole and you know that no matter how well you perform, you’ll never get promoted.
They didn’t do it on x86 either I believe.
MacOS doesn’t throttle performance on battery like many Windows power plans do, that’s why

I know, but as a software engineer, I just hate reading through other people’s code and I don’t have time for tinkering anymore. Apple’s ecosystem is convenient for me and that matters more now. Used to care more of course.
Direct replacement for Cyanogen would be Lineage. There are dozens of decent ROMs to try though.
I still opted for iOS in the end. As much shit as Apple pulls, they did 6 year software updates when only flagship Androids got 3 and they aren’t generally trying to dominate the Internet.
Did you inherit the same project I did?
Did they also not use feature branches, API documentation, or any frontend framework, opting to create one based on jQuery instead?
I thought this was pretty universally known in the US because I’m not from the US and never been further south than NYC when I did visit, but even I have seen it in some movie and immediately picked it up based on the tone and connect. I mean it was pretty much “he said something incredibly stupid” -> “oh bless his heart” between some southern grandmas
Might’ve been Big Mommas House, might’ve been something else entirely.
