Programming socks increase hacking skill by at least 11
C is for cookie, hacking lemmy is good enough for me, yeah!!
You could use Tailscale funnel, cloudflare tunnel (I don’t know if cloudflare ToS allows video streaming) or setup a VPN/Tailscale and reverse proxy on a cloud VPS.
A true shit post
I have those same drive cages sitting in my spare parts closet lol. You can jam it into 3x 5.25” bays sideways!
How is the display connected?
At least Lemmy has gotten a lot more stable in the past few weeks too
Server pulls around 150W with drives spun down, over 200 with all 6 spinning. UPS with all the networking equipment, server, desktop, raspi and apple tv usually hovers around 200-400W depending whether the gaming PC is on.
My last month power consumption was 151.76kWh for the UPS or around $29/mo in electricity.
edit: server is an old Dell R710 w/ dual X5675’s, 128gb of ram, GT730 for transcoding, 6x4TB 3.5” SAS drives for the array, and a 500gb SSD for cache running Unraid.
Hot subscribed is my default but I cycle through all the different sort settings. Thanks to lemmycommunityseeder I have a All feed that’s populated like a bigger instance on my personal instance
I miss the pink lizard milk
Install docker for windows containers and play around and see what you can get running? I ran pretty much all the same containers as I do on linux when I was using windows server. 1GB of RAM is going to be the big limiting factor.
Do you get better speeds transferring over Tailscale when both machines are on the same LAN? I have no problems pushing 400mbit over Tailscale but it does use a ton of CPU so maybe the Synology CPU is the bottleneck if you have similar speeds after eliminating your internet connection.
+1 for Memmy, it’s very usable at this point and the dev pushes TestFlight builds with new features daily.
Reddit will sure be a lovely site in a few months…
I use calibre and calibre-web. I have the DeDRM and ACSM plug-ins installed in calibre so I can buy a book from ebooks.com or wherever, drop the acsm file in my auto import folder, then just download the drm stripped epub from calibre-web and import to the Books app on my iPad.
