You can also back up your compose file and data directories, pull the backup from another computer, and as long as the architecture is compatible you can just restore it with no problem. So basically, your services are a whole lot more portable. I recently did this when dedipath went under. Pulled my latest backup to a new server at virmach, and I was up and running as soon as the DNS propagated.

constantokra@lemmy.oneto linuxmemes@lemmy.world•Can I get a filesystem cleanup on aisle 6?29·2 years agoIt’s been my experience that SD cards are almost always what causes a failure on a SBC. Given the cost of the screens, i’d probably choose something that could boot off nvme storage. Or at least tape a new, configured SD card to the case of the SBC for when this inevitably happens.
Local ordinances specify minimum space requirements for trees, which may mean that they’re not allowed to be put in certain places. Also, they can cause pedestrian safety issues, as well as Ada compliance problems in confined spaces. This is an easy way to get something green in a place where you would otherwise not see a tree because of a lot of beaurocratic bullshit.
Obviously, you can argue that all that needs to be changed. And you’d be right. And in many places it’s moving that way. But then you also wouldn’t get anything done for quite some time. This is an option where there might be no other viable options at the moment.
Perfect mate, or something like that. I’ll have to rewatch it soon.
No issues currently using pop os. I don’t use the graphical Bluetooth manager, for whatever that’s worth. I wrohe a script that connects and disconnects with bluetoothctl, and I pair and trust devices with bluetoothctl. I use several different headphones.
Occasionally, I have to go into the audio settings to change the destination, or tap a button on my headphones, but that’s about it.
How have I watched TNG so many times and missed this? I’m sure one of you knows an episode reference off the top of your head. Care to share it?
They’re largely autisticly coded, and we don’t generally lie, to the extent that it causes us problems. So I’d guess people are picking up on the coding.
Imagine how bad he’d look if he wasn’t.

So it’s not so much that it’s supporting a bullshit way of looking at slavery as an institution in the past. It’s really supporting the horrible people who continue to think that way today, and enabling them to pass it on to a new generation.
I dunno man, lotsa room for the gut. I might have to try it out myself. Looks pretty comfortable.
Tiv will handle that on the tty just fine.
constantokra@lemmy.oneto Privacy@lemmy.ml•Signal's new version notification keeps popping up2·2 years agoI had an update reboot pending and it seems like that got rid of it for me.
Nope… lasted all of 10 minutes.
No, Debian should definitely be the Swiss army knife, and Ubuntu should definitely be the playdoh Swiss army knife.
Defaults. And I have a vps set up as an encrypted sync target because all my devices aren’t necessarily on and with a network connection at the same time.
PDFs might be your sticking point. I’ve not found any software that will handle all the different things you can do with acrobat in an easy way. But I have to heavily modify PDFs from time to time, and you may not have nearly the needs I do.
I’d suggest checking out libre office, and see if you can find a PDF application that satisfies you. The app store on pop os is really good, as is the interface, and if you don’t like tiling window managers, you can turn it off.
Another suggestion is to recognize you’re a novice. If you read something that sounds like a perfect setup, but it’s a little complicated, put it off. You don’t want to get in over your head, because linux distros will not keep you from breaking things. The defaults of any large distribution are a pretty safe bet.
I’m using syncthing for logseq and koreader with unrestricted battery use on grapheneos, and my phone says it has used less than 1% of battery.

Klingons are interested in feeling powerful and striking fear in their enemies, and for that the Bat’leth is pretty freaking great.
I mean, we’re human, so I get the whole Indiana Jones “Ima just shoot the guy” thing. But we’re talking about Klingons. Even if the weapon is objectively bad, there is honor in killing an enemy the hard way.

The judge is letting him behave horribly. That usually gets you at least a night in jail. That’s the lack of consequences i’m talking about.
If you don’t think that’s a big deal, consider that trump only acts the way he does because a long succession of people who could have and should have put him in his place didn’t do it.
constantokra@lemmy.oneto politics @lemmy.world•Judge Repeatedly Asks Lawyers to 'Control' Trump as Testimony Goes Off the Rails15·2 years agoThat’s possible. People literally get years added to their sentences for back talking judges. You are simply not allowed to derail a trial even a little bit, and the consequences for attempting it are swift and harsh. For anyone else.
I’m so tired of this fuckwit’s behavior, but i’m even more angry that at every turn people have had the ability to stop that behavior and haven’t. And now we’re here. Anyone else would be immediately taken to jail for the stuff he’s doing inside the courtroom and out and he’s still not stopped.
It’s a mockery, and if the courts can’t handle this guy they have no business ruining people’s lives for things that don’t compare to anything trump has done.
Initramfs listening with dropbear to prompt me for my passphrase. I can ssh in if I needed to reboot, or if it’s lost power for longer than my ups can keep it running.
