I have a plugin hybrid that is less then 10 years old, why would I want an EV until about 2030? After that I will probably buy a Bolt or something similar.

I would guess early adopters that can afford it and where it is a no brainer already have either a hybrid or some kind of an EV so the next increment is harder.

Our Volt has been wonderful but that is just us. It fits our needs really well.

Most humans are not very intelligent either and many lack the ability to understand many things. We are not really thinking machines. We are emotional creatures that some times think. So I would not measure AI against the average human. That is a pretty low bar.

Understanding the general sanity of some of their responses. Synthesizing new ideas. Having a larger context. AI tends to be idiot savants on one hand and really mediocre on the other.

You could argue that this is just a reflection of lack of training and scale but I wonder.

You will change my mind when I have had a machine interaction where the machine does not seem like an idiot.

Edit: AI people call the worst of these hallucinations but they are just nonsensical stuff that proves AI knows nothing and are just dumb correlation engines.

The problem with AI is that it does not understand anything. You can have a completely reasonable sounding conversation that is just full of stupidity and the AI does not know it because it does not no anything.

Another AI issue is it works until it does not and that failure can be rather severe and unexpected. Again because the AI knows nothing.

Seems like we need some test to address this. They are basically the same problem. Or maybe it is some training so that the AI can know what it does not know.

Musk is good at making money which is his benefit not ours … and hitching is name to other people’s companies and work. His own… Spacex maybe… not sure about the otgers. In terms of accomplishment a lot of both is the result of other peoples money and work… but that is the nature of things. There are other similarities…

This is what gets me. Why would any Tesla owner believe that the auto pilot is autonomous regardless of what Testa says. Autonomous is only going to be possible via decades of real world experience and some freaky crashes to learn from. It is only a question of when the crash rate is less then the average human which is not great in itself.

Would love to have an autonomous vehicle but I have no interest in being an early adopter.

It is very unlikely that anyone can develop a new browser from scratch. Just too hard both initially and maintenance in terms of the rate of new web specs. This is why most everyone except Firefox and Safari is a clone of chromium.

I am annoyed by this too. The big limitation would have had you could not use IMAP as that is remote.

The other issue is implementation. It would be easy to forward or attach or just store unencrypted in an insecure way which may not be desirable. Frankly for what I do I would prefer Thunderbird decrypt on receipt but place all content in a vault. If one wanted to add some more restrictions one could make it hard to forward by accident mail that was originally encrypted.

The big issue with PGP has always been a combination of bad implementations and key distribution.

I have Nextcloud on my Media Center. That is just on our LAN. For sharing I use Bitwarden Send. If I had a big file to share I probably would load it to Backblaze B2 and share the link. I pay for Bitwarden and I will pay for B2 once my use goes up more.
