Exactly, but many people couldn’t give a shit about the battery health if you can charge the device in 20 mins and last the whole day… I mean yeah, technically, but that will cost you in a not too distant future…

Tbh, if the battery was replacable and you could just buy and replace one, would it still be stressful to get that message?

I’d say no, it would be awesome as I generally take good care of my devices always and the battery is always the first sign of needing a change for me, now that I have an Android phone and know about custom ROMs the sky would be the limit lol.

They said you should, not that you could, the iOS way indeed.

It wouldn’t be any different as how iOS has been doing it since a long ago, it shows the battery in maintenance mode and they even say to go to an authorized place to do it lol.

I want all that BS to end already, managing battery life has been more stressful to me that I’d want to admit (yeah, quick charge ain’t the solution).

Will phones keep the water proof/resistant feature with that change?

I mean, I prefer having it accessible, one thing less to worry about or being anxious lol, and none of my phones have had such protection anyway.

I have an S21 with Android. Sync runs in the background but it doesn’t use much power. It looks like about an hour or so of use each day accounts for about 5% battery drain, including background activity, and not including power used by the screen or other services running in the background.

It is not that Sync drains too much battery, what is going is that hinders the phone to go to deep sleep which lends to a bigger battery drain, usually my device drains less than .60%/hr without background activity on my part, with Sync for Lemmy with the optimized profile it is always above 1%

Just a thought though - maybe Sync is making tracking attempts in the background? I recently started using Duck Duck Go’s free VPN which blocks tracking attempts made by apps. Some apps, like Messenger and Robinhood, make thousands of tracking attempts every day, even when the apps are closed and not in use. Google makes tracking attempts through Sync, but I’ve only seen these occur while I use the app. I figured the attempts are made each time an ad loads, but I could be wrong.

This seems like a possibility since I’m always using the AdAway rooted version…

Perhaps Tracker Control might help me to point out something odd there.

I have my suspects that is because it tries to fetch new messages through a non existent push notifications feature/API that was transferred from Sync for Reddit… But hell, that is just a non funded suspicion.

Anyway, yeah if I want to keep things simple and streaming and the best of all working I go with Stremio on my Shield TV if I feel like data hoarding then I go with Plex.

I downvote stuff from communities that removed it from my instance and Sync for Lemmy lol, or at least I have never noticed the lack of the feature.

I’d say you are going to be fine with the free app, at least I don’t see ads as I have AdAway always on lol.
