  • I would have been happy to pay to get API access for 3rd party apps on my account. Maybe 1 or 2 dollars per account and month would have been reasonable to cover the costs without ad revenue. Double it to please greedy shareholders.

Instead they asked for such ludicrous amounts from 3rd party developers, basically telling them to fuck off.

Either they were mad for control or got greedy over their „golden data“ for AI training. Or both. In any case, they never were interested in finding a user friendly solution so fuck them.

  • Well, if that commenter had more than just a vague idea of caching and/or swapping, they would know that the right algorithm can make or break performance.

That paper is not “we invented caching”, but “this is how we make some certain models work well despite constraints imposed by RAM and flash storage.”

It’s a worthy job for an engineer or researcher. Not quite as innovative as the invention of the wheel, but still enough to write a paper on (and read it, if you can manage to understand it).

  • You, as a presumably sane person, expect words to mean things. Fascists don’t like that. They overwhelm people by repeating words ad nauseam until they no longer mean any thing, except a vague (usually negative) emotion.

When they pour their insane word salad over their followers it is not even supposed to follow any logic or convey any thing. It is just a stream of emotions, giving them a high on fear and anger.

The whole thing is about as logical, and as dangerous, as drugs.

In the distance I saw a police car approaching. Quickly I slipped into the driver’s seat of the VW Golf, shattered rear shelf remnants poking at my back. Heart pounding, I grabbed a handful of candies, hoping my impromptu candy feast would throw off suspicion. “Just a guy enjoying a snack,” I thought, praying the police wouldn’t dig deeper.

Rookie Officer Daniels and I rolled through the quiet streets, and his eyes widened at the sight of a small European car with a shattered rear shelf. “Should we check it out?” he asked nervously. Glancing at the driver indulging in candies, I chuckled, “Nah, just some late-night snackin’. Welcome to the quirks of the job, Daniels.” Oblivious to the potential connection to recent car burglaries, we continued our patrol.

Finally alone in the car, I eyed the wallet I had found in the glovebox with a mix of temptation and paranoia. “Easy money, or avoid the risk?” I muttered to myself. The dilemma weighed on me as I calculated the consequences. Taking it could mean a fatter wallet but also a certain police report. I hesitated, torn between greed and the fear of drawing unwanted attention to my nocturnal activities.
