I don’t use them anymore, but these types of apps can fill a “need”.

If they use nuclear weapons, it will end in one of two ways.

1. Escalation to full scale nuclear exchange. Putin dies or has to live in the aftermath of a nuclear holocaust.

2. The rest of the world saying “that’s enough”. Nobody in power wants using nukes to be normalized. It’s so profoundly destabilizing to the status quo that everyone sees it as a threat given it will inevitably lead to escalation. Every intelligence agency in the world will be making phone calls, offering sweet deals, and promising support to unhappy, powerful people in Russia to deal with the “Putin” problem. Ideological enemies will work together to eliminate this threat to their stability.

I took their comment to mean “companies offering VPN services as a subscription for the purpose of privacy”.

It wouldn’t be hard to target those companies specifically while leaving every other “legitimate” (in their view) use cases for VPNs alone.

I deleted my reddit account and joined lemmy during the subreddit blackout, but there’s still a few authors I follow on reddit. Most I’ve followed to other sites, and just recently one was suspended for what sounds like a fuck up on reddit’s end.

Reddit lost most of their quality content creators and I can’t see the few remaining staying long term.

I’d point out Vietnam and Afghanistan for the USA, or Afghanistan vs the USSR. Those were tiny, poorly equipped countries fighting against the most powerful militaries in the world. Said small countries eventually started receiving materiel, training, and intelligence support from powerful allies.

They didn’t have to kill all their enemies or push them off the land they held – they weren’t capable of it. They won by just dragging the conflict on and making it as expensive and difficult as possible for the other side. A common path to victory is the enemy saying “this fight is no longer politically/economically worth it” and withdrawing.

If I’m elected to congress I’ll work towards passing a law mandating all licensed broadcasters run 24 hour marathons of School House Rock and other “USA civics edutainment for children” shows on a set date every year.

Next you’re going to tell me that that not only does humanity already have trains that can do 200mph (320 km/h): but they’re more reliable, safer, cheaper to build/operate, and can can carry a ton of people per trip.

I mean … he does. He’s not as bad as he’s made out to be on most domestic issues, keeping in mind the limited power of the presidency and the fact congress holds the majority of the power. But he’s too fucking old. He’s made mistakes, and handling Israel with kid gloves is a problem.

I’m still voting for him because:

• The alternative is a fascist takeover of the government
• It gives us 4 years to push for change, elect leftists, and organize in an environment where were fascists don’t hold overwhelming power.
• In 4 years he’ll fucking leave office on his own accord. Donald Trump (or his stand-in) absolutely won’t.
