I had mixed feelings about the whole Ondsel thing. And, please correct me if I’m wrong.

Most of the significant features in 1.0, that supposedly came from Ondsel, are things that I’ve been using for perhaps 3 years now, with a fairly well known branch of FreeCAD called Linkstage3 by a user that goes by RealThunder.

I don’t know how much he was involved in Ondsel, or the merging of those features into FreeCAD, but it sure looked like a whole lot of great work wasn’t credited to mind boggling amount of work by one person.

I still use the Linkstage3 branch, because it has a lot more features still, than what was present in the 1.0 pre-release i tried some months ago. Maybe things have changed since then.

The argument that any number of human will stochastically offset its own emission through science and technology is patently absurd. You need a certain amount of people in order to sustain hi tech infrastructure. But 8 billion now and still 8 billion in 2080, which would be the largest possible “natural” change in trajectory of global population, one of the best things for humanity when it comes to global emissions.

The more likely trajectory of 10.5 by 2080 is much more likely to lead to exhaustion of resources and ecosystems, not to mention lead to more wars, famine, and global warming, all of which will fuel each other.

If you want innovation and advancement of human knowledge. The thought of “make more babies” being an important factor is funny as hell. Thanks for the chuckle.

Also. MacOS is absolute garbage. I’ve used it for 4 months now, and it pisses me off how inconsistent it is, and poorly designed and written. Two days wasted because of an almost bricked laptop because the monitor was set to 60Hz while installing an update. Just think about that.

I also had the misfortune of booting into windows after changing a motherboard. It was an absolute shit show there too, with broken drivers. Two hours of debugging. Had to use a long ethenet cable to even start fixing it, a flashback to a Linux experience I had in 2007.

Same system in Linux? Not a single second spent. WiFi drivers, microcode. Everything worked fine. Only thing necessary was fixing the grub/mbr partition that Windows decided to write over, on a separate drive. But that’s also Microsoft being shit.

People just don’t know how much more usable Linux is these days. Especially for power users. You can do so many things, so easily, that either works out of the box, or you can do with simple scripting. The only issue is software availability, but that too is mostly a thing of the past, and not really a fault of the OS.

Are you saying that this information isn’t collected by Plex for a use case that doesn’t obviously require it? Because if it is the case, then it’s a big fucking deal.

If the purpose of collecting the data by private companies is to somehow make money, do you think that sharing this data, or conclusions based on this data, somehow manages to exclude access of governmental agencies? I’ve never gotten the impression that CIA/NSA would ever willingly play nice.

It’s a de-facto open air prison, which they have cut off fuel supply to, and now designated about half of it an “evacuation zone”. They destroy on average 12 buildings per hour. They’ve killed 4.4k children since October 7th. What… Exactly do you think is going on there? The defense minister of Israel also said they want to install a new “security regime” in Gaza.

It doesn’t take a lot of datapoints over the last 75 years to see where this is going.
